Although the staff were quite nice, the pool was dirty, and the room amenities were lacking. The cleaning service did not change the sheets, and took the towels and bathmat, but did not replace them on one occasion. The place is quite old, with an analog tv and plastic cups. When visiting the lounge after a long journey to Maine from North Carolina, we were asked to pay a cover charge...when we explained our situation the "bouncer" let us in, where we enjoyed weak cocktails from a sub-par server. For what I needed -- an overnight stay on the way to drop off daughter at camp -- it was perfect. Very nice people at the front desk, room was quite clean, and the beds were exceptionally comfortable for someone coming off a long drive.

Fireside Inn is an older hotel, but that's part of its charm. The rooms and lobby are a bit more spacious. All is very clean. The breakfast is sparse, probably because there is a restaurant attached to the hotel, where we enjoyed dinner one evening. Guests in one of the rooms adjacent to us had a loud argument at 2:30 one morning, and we called the […] front desk. The staff member went to that room immediately and knocked on the door, and returned and did so again when the argument continued and we called a second time. After that, it was quiet. Second time staying here. It was much more pleasant last stay. One of the windows would not close completely and had a draft . Fine fore the summer however in early march not the best time of year. Hotel has changed since the last stay no longer has free full breakfast. Guest now have free continental breakfast and the option to eat in the dinning area […] for breakfast with a 10 dollars off coupon. The first day we had the full breakfast as we liked it last time. This time it was very disappointing. Hash brown potatoes were over cooked and very dry. Neither one of us finished them. We stayed for 3 nights front desk only put 1 night on the cards. We were very pleased with our hotel stay at this hotel. It was very clean and well kept. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was adequate. We didn't use the pool so we can't say anything about that other than it seemed well kept also. The location was very good for what we came for, which was sightseeing.

Front […] desk service was excellent. We road the metro into Portland from the bus stop at Shaw's, easy enough to do if you are a visitor. #4 goes in, transfer to #8 to go to the wharf. Get a transfer ticket when you get on at Shaw's. Allow time to ride on the bus into town if you are scheduled to do something, at least 20 minutes I would say. It's cheap, just $1.50 or 75 cents if you are a senior. Taxi costs around $15 one way. Use the hotel taxi and ask for their $2 coupon. Quick, courteous service. További részletek

Got to room late had to wait several minutes to get service tub and sink drains were too slow to use and was unable to shower because tub water was over my ankles before water temp was reached due to slow drain

I unfortunately got a room on the first floor of the section that has yet to be remodeled. For the shabbiness of the room, it was extremely overpriced. When booking here, make sure you get in the remodeled section, which is very nice.

This hotel should never have been rated 3 Stars. The room had a huge cobweb in the corner of the drapes that was obviously there more than one day. We stayed overnight because we were "passing through." Excellent value for the price, especially compared to other hotels in the area. Check in was a little confusing- they had to "unblock" rooms so they could give us one- and we had reservations. The girl at the desk told us to look for doors 6/7 or 8- we drove around the parking lot twice and finally used 8 since 6/7 were nowhere to be found.
