The staff was very responsive and kind, but the walls were paper thin and the entire hotel smelled of smoke. They couldn't get the smoke smell out of the walls. It needs a complete renovation. The price was very competitive though. You do get what you pay for.

Very clean and cozy. Nice size room for 1 person.

Mattress super hard wife had hard time sleeping on it.

While the room was small and the bathroom tiny, it was very clean. Our biggist problem was the thin walls between the room. We were wakened by the couple in the next unit arguing-Very Loudly-all night. We will not stay here again

Hotel was clean and staff was nice. The walls were thin, but I didn't have loud people near me so it was fine. You can't beat the price.

Nice hotel. Clean. However,Bed was like sleeping on a cement block. Could not sleep at all. Left early in a.m.

There were visitors in other rooms that were very noisy and other people who kept pounding on our door throughout the night so I didn't get much sleep. The fitness room was small with only a stationary bike and one other machine. If you are just looking for a room and can sleep through noise, this is the place for you. The staff was very pleasant.

clean room: but our room wasn't ready when we got there and then they gave us a room that was occupied and that was embarassing. we had to go back to desk and get another room. lot of dogs in room and barking we only needed a room for the night so it worked out o.k. but wont stay again.

We stayed for three nights at the Howard Johnson La Crosse in July 2011. The hotel staff was courteous and gave my room keys by just telling him my name, not having to show any identification. I was a little put off by not having to show an ID as I could have been a friend or just happened to know I was staying at the hotel, and get a key. In addition, […] one of my friends who was not listed as someone on my reservation was able to get a key at 4 in the morning by just saying my name at the front desk. This one was extremely strange in my opinion. I would think the front desk staff would have called or required some form of verification that she was to be let into my room. Our room was fairly clean with only a few things left behind by past guests--we found a coffee cup behind the bed and some crumbs next to the bed, but everything else was pretty clean. Additionally, I don't know if we had no guests next door to us or not, but when we were in our room we did not hear any other hotel guests, and everything was fairly quiet. There was free breakfast downstairs from 6 to 9 on weekdays and 7-10 on weekends, which was adequate. It was your standard continental breakfast food--bagels, english muffin, prepackaged danishes, hard boiled eggs, juice and coffee, and cold cereal. The food was totally fine for my tastes. The staff was very friendly, cleaning, food, front desk. Even though we had that strange issue with the trusting front desk staff giving out keys, I would recommend this hotel...it's very affordable and convenient to everything in the area, including highway. Hotel initially tried to change our reservation from a king size bed to two doubles. They allow pets in the rooms. Breakfast area is too small for the number of guests. A/C, beds, bathroom were all in good condition. Had a good night sleep. Rooms are small. Good for a overnight stay, but not a week.

The Howard Johnson was a good bargain. It's an older building. Good selection with television channels. Breakfast was good, The staff was very friendly. Not a five star hotel,but worth the money.

Found bloody dried booger on tv stand! A/C as loud as jet engine. Drywall warped from water damage, idiots wallpapered over damage, probably covering mold. Room smelled like toilet.

For a cheap hotel this was great. I had no issues, staff was friendly, rooms were quiet and clean.

Looking for a budget hotel with some amenities...this would be it. Front desk personnel were outstanding, but the hotel itself was very run-down. Rooms and beds are small, but so is the price.

Nice enough place to stay and inexpensive, continental breakfast has a few choices, the french toast was good. Room was fine overall clean, it was sold as non smoking but under the spray they use to freshen the room which was quite strong you could just catch a hint of cigarettes, but you can't control your customers! There is no parking for boats and no outside electricity. Furnace was broke in my room for the entire stay,

Nice hotel, great price. Breakfast was nice too. The only thing that we "dinged" quality of service on was that when we got back to our room we noticed the message light on. It was a noise complaint for while we were gone, or before we arrived. They should clear out messages from the phones on check out and if they are calling for a noise complaint […] and don't a response, maybe they should go check it out. További részletek

The rate for this hotel was beyond fabulous, and for that I could not even believe how great the service was, how comfortable the beds/pillows were, and how clean it was. The absolute only bad thing was that the walls were a little thin and I heard the guy nearby coughing during the night. that was annoying but I was very happy with this hotel. Even though the hotel was "sold out" during a peak tourist season, we found that the service was very good in every way. It was quiet, the breakfast had a lot of good choices (there seemed to be sufficient for all), and the staff had time to give recommendations for eating places and places to tour. I was actually surprised that this motel was as nice as it was for the price! The bathroom was tiny, but clean. The staff was great and so was the breakfast (albeit the missing fruit :o)

Hotel & room had a old dirty look & feel. I expected to see mold, but I didn't look too close. No elevator, just a narrow, dark stairway(about 12 steps) to the 2nd floor. Room was small, difficult to move around with 2 people.

In town for graduation and spent 1 night in hotel. Room was good for the price. Hotel staff were friendly and helpful.

the parking lot was right by our windwo--we had continued high level of noise until 1 am--a camper truck pulled up late and parked right along our window. Room was small, but clean. Staff was nice. Had a problem with a mechanical noise from the ceiling about every 20 seconds. Had to turn on the fan to drown it out so that I could sleep. Otherwise a nice place and a very good restaurant within easy walking distance.

Only need to get a night's rest, was comfy for the price and close to interstate.

i found the place very good. they were very acomadating. rooms very clean. very helpfull
