Great visit. Ev eryone was very attentive. Restuarant was great. Bikes were awesome.

Loved the location and proximity to surrounding sites. Loved the Baleen restaurant. Food and service were outstanding.

The hotel was nice enough, but parking was ridiculously expensive per night, something I didn't know until I had prepaid for the room and found out when I arrived. The Ocean view was a view of a stone wall about 100 yards from the hotel, I guess that is what they meant by a partial view of the ocean. Never been to a hotel that charges you for parking. Everything in the room was marked with a price tag, which I found a little offensive. Couldn't even use their refrigerator without being charged for it.

Great hotel and staff!

The best part of this hotel was watching the sea lion colony right outside. This hotel had great potential but needed a little TLC - paint touch ups and mold in the bathroom. The lobby was charming!

Hotel is close enough to the action but the location on the water is so relaxing. Third visit to the hotel- love the friendly staff and amenities.

The Portfino Hotel was probably something in its time but very little has been done to keep it up to date. The carpet, wallpaper, and smell of mold reveals the lack of concern for staying fresh. We stayed for a week to enjoy both the pier/beach and to do the Hollywood tourist thing. The hotel itself is in a beautiful area. The views from the ocean view rooms on the first floor may block your view of the whole ocean, but you still get to see the beautiful inlet and all the boats adding by. Very relaxing! Very well worth it if you are one a budget […] but still want to enjoy the water scene. There is a pack of sea lions that hang on a barge 24/7. Being animal lovers, We did not mind the sea lions, although they do make noise all day/night so some people may not enjoy that, but we loved watching them frolic! The hotel provides ear plugs if you have trouble sleeping. One complaint about the room for us would be the bed & pillows. Both quite mushy! But the rooms were super-clean, pretty nautical theme, and the hotel staff was real nice. One small thing about the staff is the person that stands at the entrance--they will stop you if you don't have a parking permit so make sure you get one when you check in. If you like being by the water, stay here! It's a 30 minute or so drive to the whole Hollywood scene. Very well worth it. This was our second time staying here, and we will stay again! I booked this hotel because i previously stayed here on a work trip back in 2008 and was thoroughly impressed and so wanted to go back and Honeymoon here. - How disappointed was I. I think the underlining message is bring plenty of money. For starters the $23 a night car parking. I didn't even utilise the car park every night, but the hotel argued […] that i had to pay for it. When you're staying for 5 nights this isn't a cheap expense. I couldn't even get them to waive the charge because it was our honeymoon - it's not like the hotel room charge wasn't cheap as it was, they squeeze those pips for a bit more. Baleen. The dining experience. Well we only had breakfast there and i'm glad about that. We sat outside twice and they kept forgetting about us, the food was of a small portion - unlike the bill and then expected tip! The bell staff are generally quite arrogant, one is particular was nosey with our comings and goings, to the point where we deliberately avoided him. We received no special treatment despite explaining why i wanted to stay with them. The general answer was - if you wanted something you'll have to pay for it. To say i'm gutted would be an understatement - i had such high hopes for our stay here and it was just a posh hotel with no real warmth to make the guests experience something more. We loved waking up to the seals barking in the cove just behind our room. We had a beautiful view of the harbor and ocean.

The hotel is located in a very good location and the staff there was extremely helpful and friendly. The amenities were great as was the rooms themselves. My only complaint was that there were several spiders in my room. I called the front desk to either take care of the problem or change my room and nothing was done. The Portofino Hotel is in a great location. On the Marina with ocean views. When you enter the lobby you are wowed by the decor. It has a beachy feel and the great room with fireplace overlooking the bay is beautiful. There are some downsides to the hotel. I had a hard time getting the room temperature to a comfort level. The bathroom is very small and no counter space to place items. There is a $24 parking charge whether you valet or self park. That is a big negative. Also be aware, I had little to no cell phone service and had to go to the lobby in order to use my phone. I have to admit - I was pretty bummed when I got my room the 1st night. It was on the 1st floor and next to the lobby. I went to bed at 10 and couldn't fall asleep until 230AM. There was so much noise and commotion (drunk and inconsiderate people yelling down the hall and in front of our door). Our shower head broke, and the king size bed turned out […] to be a king. We also ended up in a handicapped room, so everything is low to the ground. BIG SIGH. I checked at the front desk to see if they had any other rooms available, but they were all booked up. :( I spoke with Lupe, who promised to make it up to me the next night...and he did. First off, the ENTIRE staff was amazing - from the valet to the repairman. Everyone was so courteous and helpful. Lupe gave us an amazing room the next evening, which more than made up for the 1st night. I really ended up enjoying my stay and will definitely go back. The hotel was clean and in great location. It's walking distance to the Redondo Beach Pier. If you want to checkout the other beaches you can rent bike from the hotel for free. This appears to be a huge wedding venue. We saw a number of parties pass in and out of the hotel. I believe there's happy hour from 5-7, but we didn't find out until after […] we left. If you're facing the ocean, you'll hear the seals in the morning. The restaurant is across from the hotel - Baleen. The potatoes they served during breakfast was great. We did have an incident where we were trying to grab an empty table and the hostess stopped us without a clear explanation of why we couldn't have the seat, since there were two empty tables. Still unclear to why that happened and it left me with a negative experience that I'd rather try other places than going back. If you're looking for a nice upscale place to sleep and rest that's right on the dock, this is the place. Top notch service, quaint rooms, overall a great buy. I recommend that you get a room off of the bottom floor to improve your view of the ocean/harbor, but besides that, a great place. Family of 3 stayed for 5 nights. Walked to restaurants at Redondo Pier and used the complimentary Strand Cruisers ad lib. Lunch at Baleen was high quality. Hung out in Lobby for view and free internet. Wished parking was cheaper and room internet was free, but overall a nice time.

The Portofino is a really wonderful hotel. The staff were friendly and helpful, the hotel is in excellent condition and only a short stroll away from nice restaurants and the beach. The power station is a bit of an eye-sore and the pool is tiny, but it was still the perfect hotel as we had hired a car to get in and around LA, so the Portofino was the […] perfect place to go back to at the end of a days sightseeing - though the parking charge per day was a bit steep, so it might be worth finding other places to park locally if you're hiring a car (and there's quite a bit of choice). Joe's Crab Shack (the restaurant next door) was brilliant as was the Cheesecake Factory. The beaches were clean and not too busy, which was lovely. We asked for an upgrade to our room (we wanted ocean view) and even though the hotel was booked up, he was able to find us a second floor ocean view room for the second night. It's position amongst the yachts and harbour and close to the seals is very nicely different. Power station is hidden from view by a large tasteful whale mural and you can visit! Sufficient restaurants locally, including the Cheesecake Factory which we enjoyed. Free bikes (no helmets) for adults for two hours allowed us to visit Hermsosa beech and we hired childrens (with helmets) close by. Car parking was extra cost that I didn't anticipate. real nice, used the free bikes and rode the bike trail to Venice beach. The jacuzzi tub was great but only available on the ground floor, better views on upper floors.

The location of the hotel is nice located next to the yacht harbor - in the evening we ate at the lounge and the service and food was very good - also we had breakfast at the hotel restaurant and again the service and food were good. We had a room on the first floor facing the water and it was AWFUL!!!! We couldnt open the door without a huge HOWLING […] nice racing through the room. The acoustics of the room was such that when the sliding door was open the breeze from the water came into the room and turned into an awful howling noise so we couldn't enjoy the room with the door open. Even at nightime with the doors shut, there was some type of wind howling noise coming in from the vent near the hotel room door. Really nice Hotel with beautifully painted cape cod style rooms, great views of ocean & marina, nice pool and hot tub. Located Near a lot of great activities that you can bike or walk to. Nice location in a marina. 10 min walk to the beach. Rooms are big, clean and nice decorated.

Nice place but too many "issues" considering the very high price. Accessible room drain slow and flooded bathroom floor at every shower, only two towels in room, only two pillows on bed, ice machine broke, only bed and one desk chair for sitting, patio full of bird droppings, splash wall 8 feet from sliding door full of bird droppings, breakwater blocks […] view of ocean, partial ocean view is extremely "partial". Free beach cruiser bikes are only for two hours and high cost per hour after that. Bikes were never available. Charge for parking is not cheap. Staff very nice and very accommodating. Stayed 4 nights, June 2011. The hotel is ok for a 3*, but it claims to be 4*. I stayed in an Ocean Jacuzzi room. The view is of water, not the ocean though, behind particularly large concrete breakwaters. Not appealing. The jacuzzi bath itself was in dire need of refurbishment, to step into it one has to climb over the tiled-in surround. It represents […] quite a feat, being some 24 inches or so high. The designer has never tried it, I would wager. Odd. The hotel itself is strange in that it is arranged in three separate buildings. The hotel itself, the bar/restaurant and a function suite. Again, odd. Valet parking - all that was available during my visit - is charged at $25 per day, plus tax. The swimming pool sits at one extremety of the hotel building. The surround is filthy, the grounds unkempt and the size is disappointing - it is no more than 10m x 5m. And cold. The levels of service offered by the hotel are also underwhelming. It is not possible to order a coffee at breakfast time; the Lounge "bar" is often closed and generally the staff do not interact with guests. If you are considering a holiday in California, I would suggest you try somewhere else. I certainly would not return. További részletek

quality hotel in a nice area of Los Angeles in Redondo Beach. Clean, great services and a fantastic view onto the Bay and a group of seals nearby. would go there again. Takes 35 Min. by bus or taxi or car to get to Santa Monica or Hollywood.
