Hotel Diplomat - Stockholm

We loved our stay at the Diplomat. Only complaint was the maintenance in the spa/jacuzzi area... jacuzzi wouldn't heat up. Great, modern neighborhood walking distance from Vasa Museum/Skansen and Gamla Stan

Terrific location, extremely helpful staff, good bar. Our room had a great balcony and I loved the decor. I'd definitely stay again if in Stockholm. Great deal on cost as well.

Hotel is in a good location for all attractions, restaurants and shops. Staff are friendly but don't go out of their way to go the extra mile; we enquired about two things on two separate occassions which involved the hotel ringing me, still waiting for the phone calls and when challenged, just said "oh sorry about that" on both occassions. We were […] given the wrong room when we first arrived and had to go back to reception who made a point of going through the computer system to check that we had indeed booked a Diplomat View Room despite me showing them the confirmation! Felt a bit like I was trying to pull the wool over their eyes. The Diplomat View Room was quite nice it had a little balacony with super views, room was ok, nothing special, bathroom was very small with only a shower and very small sink. Food good but expensive so too are the drinks but its no different in any other hotel or restaurant in Stockholm. There are lots of places to eat around the hotel and in the old town; the hotel restaurant is always extremely busy so best to book ahead if you want a specific time. Overall we enjoyed Stockholm but if we were to go back we would probably looked to stay somewhere else. További részletek

A small, lovely hotel with some of the most attentive, helpful and genuinely nice staff I've experienced in many years of traveling. The beautiful 19th century building is a thoughtful combination of new renovations with enough Belle Epoque charm to make it truly distinctive. But once again, it's the staff that deserves ten gold stars.

Beautiful building, nice tall ceilings in the room, well maintained, great shampoo/soaps. The only downside I can really think of is that the room service menu is tasty but too limited.

Staying in the Hotel Diplomat made our trip to Stockholm so much more fantastic. I can't imagine staying in a better part of town. It was easy walking to Gamla Stan, Djurgarden, & of course the Ostermalm & Norrmalm section. We paid extra for a waterfront room, as recommended in many reviews. It was worth it. Such amazing views. Visit the Ostermalms […] Saluhall, a few blocks back, a food/cafe market. A nice change from visiting restaurants & easier on your wallet. The canal boats are a few hundred yards away. The hotel was very convenient to most of the sights & a very safe area. The hotel itself was beautiful. The elevator was small but so quaint. The only drawback was breakfast is not included and it very expensive so we didn't eat there but it was not a problem. Loved the hotel and the location can't be beat. További részletek

Hotel was located in a great location - close to all the shopping, wonderful restaurants and bars, and the sightseeing. Hotel was gorgeous and the rooms were nice. I stayed at Hotel Diplomat for five days and I must admit, although I have stayed in many hotels, none of them have been as accomidating as this. Upon my arrival, I found the concierge very friendly and obliging and the room very comfortable and clean. The included breakfast was very nice, however the vegetarian options were a bit slim, limiting me […] mostly to croissants and fruit, which were delicious. The bathroom, which was always cleaned thoroughly, included L'Occtaine bath products which I thought was very luxurious. In addition, there was a welcome bag that also housed hand lotion, shoe polish, tissues, etc. The minibar in the hotel is a bit expensive, however, right down the street from the hotel is a Seven Eleven; I recommend that you just buy your Soda and crisps there. Obviously, the location is divine. Being on the Strandvägen provides reasonably quick access to Old Town, the Nationalmuseum, among other things. További részletek

Although we booked this hotel months in advance of our trip, and specifically asked for a smoking room, when we arrived we were told that the hotel was non-smoking. Couldn't they have let us know beforehand? The room we had was rather shabby and rundown compared to the pictures on the hotel's website. It was kept clean, however, despite being so tiny. […] We had originally wanted a room on the front of the hotel with a view of the water. We wound up getting a room with a view of what they called the courtyard. That was a stretch! Anyway, the inside room was much quieter as traffic noise started very early. We found the location of the hotel extremely convenient as we were often in Gamla Stan (old town) as well as the heart of Stockholm shopping. We loved the view as we walked around the water and the view back across to the hotel. We were happy with the cleanliness and the layout of the rooms.

When we arrived there was a little mix up with the rooms that we thought we had. However, the hotel manager got it all figured out for us and we had two wonderful rooms facing onto the street with a view out to the water, beautiful. It had the charm of an older establishment but all amenities were modern. Our room was spacious and well furnished - only quirk was that window looked into an air shaft. Location ideal for seeing city - easy walking to the old town, Vasa Museum and other "attractions."

There was no air conditioning. We were supplied with a small desk fan for a very large high ceiling room which opened up to a courtyard that faced apartments. Although pleasant view, not when there is no air-conditioning and on full view to the world even in the bathroom. Found a large fan in the hall the last night, which made sleeping a little easier. […] Why everyone is not provided with this size? Elevator was a wonderful old style. However, people would leave the door open and we climbed the stairs more often than not. Good excercise, but with luggage not so good. We had to buy an adapter. Left ours in Paris. I did not complain and smiled through all these issues. It is kind of the charm. Just mentioning it in case one may have medical issues. I will definitely come back to Stokholm. It is a magical city and the people are just wonderful. I may just stay at a different hotel in the same vacinity. Location gets 5 Stars! További részletek

We flew to Sweden from Karlsruhe, Germany after being in Schwaebisch Gmuend for the 850th Stauferfest (bday celebration) and fell in love with Stockholm.
