Hotel Newton - New York

We got upgraded to a junior suite upon arrival. The room was wonderful--especially for New York City--with a sitting area with microwave, fridge, and table/chairs..The bathroom was large and very clean. overall a terrific hotel for the money and location. Subway stop was half a block away.

Price is OK, room and furniture dated. But clean

excellent and cordial people. Close to 96 str station is the best.

The rooms were small but really all I needed the room was for sleeping and taking a shower and it was a really nice hotel.

Was ok for my needs - to be close to Columbia University. Would have preferred a private bathroom, but cost was an issue.

The hotel was in a vibrant neighborhood a few blocks from Central Park and right across the street from a major subway station. Great location from which to go both uptown and downtown. My only complaint is that booking a room under Hotels.com or Expedia you get a room with a shared bathroom... Meaning you need to walk outside your room down the hall, use a key to open the bathroom door and put a privacy sign on the door nob. The bathroom was small yet modern,Newell kept and clean.

This charming hotel is conveniently located on the UWS just 2.5 blocks away from NYC's backyard--Central Park. The subway system (trains 1, 2, and 3) are just steps away and ready to take you anywhere in Manhattan. Our room was very quiet, clean, and furnished with a refrigerator and microwave. This hotel was great. It wasn't particularly fancy, but the staff was very nice. The best thing about the hotel was its location. The subway is practically right outside the hotel, a few steps away. There in NO air conditioning, so if you are used to it, probably not the place for you. It was clean, nice staff, tiny elevator, mostly used the stairs […] to avoid the wait, a few sketchy characters in the neighborhood at night, but overall a great place to stay, but not in the summer with no a/c...we will stay there again. Hotel Newton was nicely decorated and seemed scrupulously clean. Sharing the bathroom (1 single-use for several rooms) was not inconvenient, as I originally thought it might be. We opted for the cheap room - shared bathroom. For a quick overnight stay it was convenient and comfortable. We would definitely change to a room with bath had we stayed longer. The neighborhood has many dining options and the hotel is well situated betwen the park and the river. Overall, very good.

Newton hotel is in a good neighboorhood on west upper side Manhattan. There are many restaurants, supermarkets and everything close to the hotel. There is also a subway just outside the hotel. Internet in the lobby works well, with printer, a bit pricey though.

My wife and I spent the weekend of February 3-5, 2012 at the Hotel Newton. It came highly recommended by a friend and we were not disappointed. Clean room, nice staff. Steps from 1,2,3 stop. Lots of good food open late close by. Will always stay here when going to NYC.

I have not complaints about this hotel. It was a great place to stay in a great location. I think I lucked out by coming at a slow time, so when the elevator broke, they upgraded me to a much nicer room on the second floor. Nice staff, well kept place.

Loved the hotel location, and great value. However, the room shared a bathroom with one other room, which was not clear at booking. Because I arrived late at night, and was tired, I didn't ask for a switch. And the shared bathroom didn't come into conflict much in the morning, when I was in a hurry. Otherwise, great place.

This hotel is very conveniently located, right near the 95th subway station, and clean, and well-priced. For those who don't like elevators, the stairs are also convenient, clean, and safe (ie. well-travelled). I would definitely stay here again!

This is in an amazing location!

Hotel staff was extremely helpful with parking, maps, and attractions, rooms were small as expected but very clean and well kept, easy access from the Henry Hudson without having to go through Manhattan. A little pricey, but its a classy, well kept location. Highly recommended.

I always stay at the Hotel Newton when rooms are available because the hotel represents Value and Location. I highly recommend the hotel to my friends. You can pay MORE somewhere else, but WHY. I'm coming back and you will too.

excellent location on express subway stop; convenient to Lincoln Center; small rooms; excellent diner almost next door

I am 51 and took my 17 year old daughter to New York for 3 nights My husband picked the hotel and had a lot of contact with them prior to our stay including arranging flowers and bubbly to be delivered to the room He found them very helpful The hotel is located in quiet area to the west of Central Park (5-10 min walk) However it is only a few subway […] stops from Times Square - the subway station is opposite the hotel so it was very easy to get about There are plenty of food/coffee outlets nearby - of particular note is the Manhattan Diner next to the hotel which was always busy but offered quick service The room was v good size - 2 queen beds - and kept v clean There was a coffee machine, microwave and fridge There are several small grocery stores near to the hotel if you want supplies (coffee provided) We bought fruit and croissants for breakfast The bathroom was smallish compared to the room and the shower was a little temperamental at first but nice and hot once running Lots of clean towels were provided on a daily basis We found the staff helpful and pleasant but not intrusive I would thoroughly recommend this hotel as a base to stay in New York The distance from the 'sights' (other than Central Park) means you are less inclined to go back during the day We didn't find this a problem but we only ate in small informal places További részletek

Had a really nice stay, but the mattresses are terribly uncomfortable for the price of the hotel. I longed for a good night of rest at home.

Great hidden gem. Clean, super neighborhood. Next to subway line and wonderful value for the money. Highly recommended!

Since my previous stay at this hotel in 2007, I was pleasantly surprised to see my upgrades and renonavations. The refrigerator and microwave included in the room was very convenient. Don't expect much. The location is good, you have a subway station across the street, also McDonalds, Subway, Starbucks, even supermarkets 1 minute away. Rooms are tiny (but clean), and service is not great.

Basic features of the room was OK. The room was good value for money. Both the bed and the floor made so much noise when you step on them. The walls were thin. If you have to book short-termly and have to be around Central Park, you do very much OK with the Newton Hotel. Right across the street is a Starbucks - for breakfast, or the DINER next door. It´s very close to the Tube and you´re downtown in approx. 10 -15 min. which is ideal. You reach the park by foot easily. Location is convenient to Starbucks and Metro. Only complaint was the cable TV system was not working during our stay.

I stayed here to be on the Upper West Side. The hotel room is small, but it is very clean, the beds are very comfortable, the bathroom is modern, the subway station is 50 yards from the door.
