Broadway Hotel and Hostel - New York

This was the cleanest hotel room I have ever stayed in. I was in the executive single, which is designed for one person (although two could fit). It had hardwood floors, high ceilings, digital thermostat control (much better than a window unit) and a super clean shiny bathroom. The hallways and elevator were also very clean and in good condition and […] there was a communal kitchen area with refrigerator. The wood/ceramic tile in the hallways makes the place very clean. It was very conveniently located to subway, restaurants, museum, and other upper west side attractions. There are two things to note: The room and bathroom are very small. This is not a room for hanging out in (which you shouldn't be doing if you've come to New York, because the whole world is outside to see). You cannot use the room for a business meeting because there is no desk or chair. But I really liked it, as all I did was sleep there and watch some TV. Secondly, the hard flooring, while allowing the halls to be spotlessly clean, does allow more sound to echo, so if you are sensitive to sound you may want some earplugs. My stay at the Bentley hotel was surperb! The room was very clean and the staff was great! Don't forget you passport, because they won't check you in with NEW YORK STATE ID. That was my first experience, which I've never heard of it before... The lobby was blurring with some kind of hip hop music, which made me think that I'm checking in to the club, not a hotel. The front desk clerk was chatting with his friend about women... nothing I would […] like to hear again. My room called Superior 2 Twin was very clean, which was a very nice surprise for me and my company, although my bed had only one thin blanket, which wasn't enough for keeping me warm at night. This is a comfortable Hostel style place with well decorated hang out space on the first floor and a good location, close to a Subway stop, also. There are private rooms, but mine was a shared room with a bunkbed. Unfortunately, Hotelscom does not allow you to specify the desired gender of your roommate and I only learned after arrival that I should […] have called ahead to make the request as soon as I booked. The experience here would be much improved by allowing selection of same sex room (other hostels on this site allow this so I'm not sure why Hotelscom does not do it for this one.) It is less awkward to share a quad or 8 bed with mixed gender than a two bed because of the forced intimacy. I am female, and my teenage male roommate was so uncomfortable with me being female that it made me uncomfortable too. I was afraid when they called it a "hostel" that it would be loud and dirty, but the private rooms are very nice. Small, clean, quiet, and close to the subway. Just what you want for a trip to New York.

Shared areas are very good, comfortable and staff are very nice. Rooms are quite small, but ok. Sadly, restrooms were a mess. If you have a room with shared toilets, think about it again. Not clean, not comfortable, I'd expect a bit more. If I would stay again? yes, but only for one or two nights.

First, this is a HOSTEL, not a HOTEL! I paid the price for a hotel and they gave me a room in a hostel situation... but clean... the building is old, and elavator is teribble... But as a hostel I'll strongly recommend it! just as a hostel...

there was absolutely nothing else except a bed and a towel in the room,not even a single use cup to drink water,if someone needs only a storage area for luggage I reccommend this but if you want to stay there for more than a night do not reccommend at all...

Really nice and convenient hotel. The best hostel I've ever stayed at, even though the beds aren't the most comfortable. Very clean, and great service. Nice lobby with Wi-Fi.

This is a nice little hostel, the downstairs hang out area is really cosy. There's a lift to take you up all the floors which is reallly slow, so I just used the stairs all the time. If you stay in a 6 bed dorm you'll meet loads of nice people that come and go during your stay, and you all share what you've done in New York when you all get home in […] the evening; it's nice! Das Hotel liegt nur wenige Blocks vom Times Square entfernt in Midtown sodass Restaurants, Supermarkt, Subway und auch der Busterminal fußläufig zu erreichen sind. Das Hotelpersonal war stets zuvorkommend und auch Probleme (defekte Klimaanlage) wurden umgehen behoben. Das Hotel ist sehr futuristisch eingerichtet. Das Frühstück, bestehend aus Muffins […] und Kaffee, war dann doch sehr spartanisch. Die Zimmer sind vergleichsweise klein, bieten dafür aber relativ viel Komfort (HD TV, ausfahrbares Bett). L'hôtel est très très bien situé puisse qu'il est à quelques dizaines de mètres de Times Square et du musée Tussaud. Le personnel est aimable et serviable. J'ai été satisfait de mon séjours de 6 nuits dans cet hôtel.

Excellent value for the money. yes it IS a hostel rather than a hotel, but the rooms are larger than the average NY hotel room, clean and comfortable. Quite a nice area too.

I stayed in Broadway Hostel in September 2010. The room is nothing fancy, it's really basic, but you are ready to forget all that because the location is really good and the price per night very good deal to stay on Manhattan! The staff is helpful but distant and the air condition is really noisy. Also, since most of the guests seem to be backpackers or at least very young, it gives the place a feeling of a hostel rather than a hotel. But considering the existence of an elevator (not standard in this price range) and private bathrooms plus being located a bare 10 min walk […] from Central Park, this is pretty good value for your money. Ich bin in einem Sechsbett Zimmer untergekommen. Die Betten waren sehr weich und für jemanden der keine Probleme mit etwas Straßenlaerm (Fenster ging zum Broadway raus) sowie guten Morgen Sonne hat ist es gut zum schlafen! Das Badezimmer/Toilette reicht für das noetigste-ist aber kein Luxus, was bei dem Preis allerdings auch nicht erwartet werden sollte! […] Ich wuerde in dem Hostel wieder ein paar Nächte verbringen!
