Simple hotel that was clean and comfortable and had everything needed to enjoy the beach.

I ended up in this hotel at the last minute. The rates are low, and the room is just okay, but there is NO TV! I even proposed renting one and was unsuccessful---a real disappointment because there's nothing else in the room. ALSO, they removed the window from my shower to repair it but the replacement didn't fit. So, I was left to shower with an OPEN […] SPACE WITH A SCREEN! NO CURTAIN OR SHUTTER TO CLOSE! The manager showed no concern when I spoke to him. And, finally, I did not appreciate the maid asking for money...I tip if I'm satisfied, and if not, I don't. Overall, not the best experience, but maybe I got what I paid for. További részletek

It is difficult to find restaurants in the area as the bistro is only open from 10 to 3pm. The garden side rooms are much brighter and better. The beach area was very small and had sand fees.

I have stayed in Negril many times over the years, and due to my last minute booking this time, I decided to go with White Sands. If you have been to Negril before, you know part of its beauty is its simplicity and laid-back-ness... This hotel's location along 7mile beach is great- it's pretty much in the middle of everything...however, everything else […] is a negative! The rooms and the property are very old and unkempt. The beds are not comfortable and the beddings/furniture/fixtures are all very worn out. The a/c didnt work well at all, and we switched rooms, however, it was the same. There are no tv's in the rooms, which I thought would be good because we did want to really "get away" and relax, but it really turned out to be troublesome. There is a nice pool table and ping pong table , and a very small, dirty pool on the street side of the hotel. There are MANY repeat visitors at this hotel and they all appear to be old hippies and druggies. Obviously it's Negril and drug use is not uncommon, but the groups and couples at this hotel were not the most comfortable to be around on the beach or at the tables and bar. One time we even returned to our room midday/ afternoon and we saw our next door neighbor (frumpy looking, middle-aged caucasian man) walking back into his room with a very young local woman. Prostitution is also not uncommon in Negril, but I have never stayed at the same hotel with its participants...One other very important thing I wish I knew beforehand, the safe for the room is NOT located in the room- it is actually located in the reception office> The office is only open from 9am- 8pm. So, if you decide to leave any valuables in the safe, you are only able to access them bewteen those hours! The office staff are nice and accomodating and the security did its job well too. Overall, Negril is one of my really favorite destinations and I will always return, but I will definitely not stay at this hotel again even if it were free. További részletek

The hotel room was on the small side but was well worth the low price we stayed for. The only complaint I have is the restaurant food/service. Our first day in Negril we decided to hang out at the hotel, as my partner wasn't feeling well. We ate at White Sands for breakfast and lunch. The banana pancakes for breakfast were delicious. Unfortunately, […] at lunchtime we weren't so lucky. We both ordered the grilled fish sandwich with jerk mayo. As we watched "the chef" prepare our lunch from the bar we began to worry. We saw the cook pull two frozen fish pieces out of the freezer and drop them in a pot of boiling water along with a few assorted sliced vegetables. I don't know about you but I don't grill my fish in boiling water. As you probably know, jerk seasoning is a local Jamaican spice mixture. Jerk seasoning is supposed to be spicy, but this was just ridiculous. The sandwich was so spicy,you couldn't taste anything, aside from the spice. We struggled to get though half of the sandwich but it was inedible. Service in the restaurant is very slow, but in its defense every restaurant we ate at in Negril had very slow service. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. Bring your own toiletries as the hotel only provides bar soap and you don't want to be stuck buying shampoo or conditioner in the gift shops/down town. The rooms: I booked 2 rooms at the White Sands, while I was satisfied with my room I was not as satisfied with the second room. Both rooms were on the garden side and the surrounding were beautiful (outside the rooms were mango trees, flowers, and other fruit trees). The first room was very spacious and at the rate I got the room at, it was worth it. […] However both rooms had a bit of mildew in the bathrooms and although the AC works great, there is an initial moldy smell when it was first turned on. The Staff: The staff were friendly and helpful, I told them about an issue in the second room and it was fixed right away. The staff at the restaurant and bar were very friendly as well. The Food: I only ate there twice, the food was good. The service is very slow though, had to wait for over 30 mins for our meals. Try the fruit smoothie, it was very refreshing and for those a bit more adventurous, try the "Rude to yur parents" drink. The Beach: The beach was across the street from our rooms, I didn't find the road crazy busy so didn't have a problem with this. The beach area is clean and we had fun in the beautiful water. Overall: The stay was great and if I was going to Negril on a budget, I would probably stay here again. További részletek

The room smelled like mole. Very bad smell. There are no TV in the rooms unless you rent the big house. So our room was switched. The only great thing was the staff and the beach at the back of the hotel. The owner was very compensative with an issues we had. There is a guy who cooks at the side of the road...his food was great, very tasty. One of the […] highlites is that is was very close to the Club called JUNGLE and other attractions. The town is not to far also. The resturant for the hotel did not serve good food and the employees were not friendly. We ate at the side of the road most of the time and at other resturants. The hotel need a face lift. The hotel did not supply no activities we had to find our own, which is not safe if you do not have someone to guide you. I think Safety was great...the security guard patrolled the grounds and we felt safe even late at night on the beach. További részletek

In I also needed information on direction to the hotel and called the hotel about three times for direction. The receptionist seemed very annoyed and advised us that I should have travelled with a map for direction. Otherwise my overnight stay was very pleasant. The secrurity was great, room

Great location of the hotel. Right on beautiful Negril's beach. Snorkeling is amazing and only 10 minute boat ride from the hotel. Staff was excellent. The only bad thing was that the beds were hard. Kind of hurt my back at night. Other than that, it was an amazing place.

We stayed here on the ocean side for the Jamaica marathon. It was neat. Close to the beach and just the right price. We went to a resort for some boat cruise. The resort was OK for the "resort feel", but it really felt like we were in Myrtle Beach, or Daytona Beach, or something like that. The resort sand was the consistency of play sand from Home Depot. […] Water was brown. Beach was crowded. White Sands was exactly this: PRO's -White sands (for real...it was) -Real Neighbors -Non crowded beach -Crystal waters -Nice locals that worked there -Great Price -Awesome native view(not planted from Home Depot) -Safe -Awesome Maids -Neat little bar/restaurant right on the beach CON's -Upstairs room wall did not go the whole way to ceiling. Could hear neighbors.... -Didn't have all the food available that was on the menu Overall, I would go to Jamaica, pay the $85 bus fair to Negril to stay here again for a week. További részletek

Hotel limpio, bien atendido, bien ubicado, internet libre hasta en la playa, en definitiva un lugar para pasarla bien y no gastar de más.

The people that are working there are 100% wonderfull.

the hotel is confortable, room good, matress good, beach great, sunset amazing, everything is good. You can walk along the beach and stop in diferent places to take a Red Stripe. jiiiiiiiiiiii
