strange hotel with glass bathroom in the middle of the room...neighborhood was OK but close to Las Ramblas without being right in the middle of the noise, etc...close to port and restaurants

Modern, interesting, great location, good cuisine. Raval is a great place to hang and easy to get around anywhere in the city. Very unique and interesting rooms (small but very well thought out and clever- never felt clostraphobic, very happy). The staff were all great, very kind and helpful to a few idiot Americans. The life size horse lamp at the […] entrance was another big selling point in my mind as well. Friday and Saturday night- great dj playing quality house music at night in the lounge, and Sunday upstairs on the roof there was another dj playing good tunes and the bar was open on the roof. It was very nice, for many things (good location from the downtown, clean, staff were very kind..etc) i absolutly recommand this hotel. just one thing , Shower booth is made in glasses,so you can't see entire when you take a shower, but you won't feel relax if there is someone in the room..

A great Hotel experience. Fun and funky rooms and total feel of the Hotel. You will see two or three working-girls on your way too and from the Hotel at times, but if you can`t take that I suggest you don`t go to Barcelona, or any other big city, at all..

I can see by the reviews that either you are very excited by this hotel or you are not. I am in the NOT category. Reviewing from a family/business and 4 star point of view I have never experienced a more impractical hotel. Washing sink in the middle of the room, waking up your family in the middle of the night turning on the light to wash your hands. […] Shower also in the middle of room aganin waking everybody by light and noise with little privacy. Sliding toilet door to heavy for less than a strong man to close/open. No hangers for your coat, fully open floor to ceiling window to the street, even though there are som fixed metalblinds, people can still se you from street. No carpets and beds with no rubber packing on feet, thus noisy sliding around, could also hear all other rooms. Staff not very friendly - reserved wrong bedtype, no "we are sorry" whatsoever, Just sour looks as if this was my fault. Breakfast plain and not up to 4 stars at all. Surroundings, yes close to main attractions, but don´t bring your kids, ít´s in the middle of the red light district. Sorry, for a 4 star design hotel, this is not what I expected, can´t recommend. Suggestion is to focus on how a hotel/room should function and less on "fancy" impractical design. További részletek

So chic and Trandy!

The hotel was beautifully appointed with very modern features (iPhone docking station). Loved the openness of the room, not for the conservative type as the shower opens into the room. I loved the room so much and it was raining outside, that I stayed in and ordered the amazing room service for dinner.

The hotel was very good and its facilities were great - in particular the 11th floor outdoor sitting area. The hotel is situated in a local neighbourhood area, therefore the local amenities were rather for a local community rather than tourists. However, not too far away from Las Ramblas and it seemed quite safe to walk at night.

Great location, we were two 20 something females and we felt totally safe walking back to the hotel in the early hours, never had any problems. Hotel is gorgeous, beds are so comfortable. Roof top views are great. Would reccomend to anyone.

Nice and modern room, this is what i wanted and expected. A bit pricely for the weekend stay, but worth it. Loved the huge bed, rain shover, modern sink and modern furniture, big TV , roof terase... Liked it very much.

What a lovely hotel. Stayed there for two nights end of March. Good to stay somewhere a little different from the usual hotel. Amazing room set out. Possibly not ideal for friends sharing a room as not as much privacy as usual when using shower but as a couple we were fine. Staff helpful and friendly . Breakfast good too. Roof top 360" viewing and sun […] loungers fantastic. Didnt try the pool as bit chilly for that. Only criticism would be the immediate locatiion. In order to walk to La Ramblas , 10 minutes walk away, it was necessary to walk through what appeared to be the citys "red light" area. At most times of day working women and groups of men were hanging around in that vicinity. I would have thought a bit unnerving had I been staying there with a girl friend . We stayed in the Raval for 3 nights the weekend of the Barcelona marathon 23-26 March 2012. The hotel was great, easy to get to from the airport using the metro. Very centrally located in a quite neighbourhood close to the main tourist areas such as the port and Las Rambas, the metro stops are only 5 minutes from the hotel. This hotel is possibly one of my favourites. The crazy mix of Art, furniture, lighting and architecture is one of a kind. Perhaps the most memorable moment I have is when I entered my room.I have never seen a room designed like this before. The bathroom is not seperated. It is part of the room (except the toilet thank god)! So there is definitely little privacy. This wasn't a problem for me because I had the room to myself but I can imagine it would be a problem for two business colleagues or people that barely know eachother. You can actually keep an eye on the whole room when you're showering. The shower is big and the water falls on you from above as if you were unter an actual waterfall. Lovely! The rest of the room was well equipped. There were even little extras such as a flatscreen tv and even your own coffee machine. The lighting was also very particular. At times it was a little too dark because you just had blue and purple lighting in the room except for the bathroom. The area around the hotel is quiet. There's nothing to do around the immediate area of the hotel but that doesn't really matter because after a 10 minute walk you are at the famous Rambla Avenue. After about 30 minute stroll you're at the lovely harbour. I definitely recommend this hotel if you're in Barcelona for a few days. It is well kept and cared for, the staff is efficient and helpful. You will have a positive experience you won't forget but I don't recommend sharing a room there with someone you don't know well because of the little privacy and open design of the room. Had a great stay at this hotel! From the moment I got there the staff were extremely polite, helpful and informative. The interior of the hotel has a real wow factor from the noticeable architecture itself to the front lobby, reception, gymnasium, restaurant, bars and the rooms themselves. Only very minor gripes that most would overlook; the white tiled bedroom floor was not immaculately clean, there were not quite enough lights in the room (though they were perfectly set) I did mention to a member of staff that a light was out but it wasn't fixed during my stay. When you are visiting a city like Barcelona and planned your stay with saitgtsseeing/shopping during the day and dinner/cultural evenst at night, it is important that you have the possibiliy to shower once or twice a day! Otherwise a city weekend are not very successful. We had a nice room at the top floor with gret viw, but it dosen't helt when there […] is no water in the room - no possibilities to take a shower. The hotel staff were not very helpful in findingsolutions - it will be solved in 30 minutes was the regular answer we got, but it never did during our theree day stay. It is not nice dressing up for going to the opera or out for a dinner without having the possibility to shower. Barcelo Raval is different in many ways: the building, the location, the decoration... we like it! But at this time of year (January) it's not really buzzing. Not in the lobby, not in the restaurant nor at the 360-degrees rooftop bar. But it's all there - go look for yourself!

The hotel is smart and modern, I loved the innovative room layout although I wouldn't share the room with, say, a work colleague due to the semi-open plan nature of the sink/shower. The room was clean and comfortable, as was the hotel and the rooftop terrace is great with a view. The pool is really a pond, but we didn't mind and the bar was shut as […] it was cold up there. My brother, who I was with, thought the room was quite feminine. I thought it was a good place for a treat for New Year. Do watch the area around the back of the hotel as it is a bit rough and I didn't feel comfortable, but otherwise, the area is fine and handy for things. I read all the previous reviews that mentioned feeling unsafe in the neighborhood and knew something was odd about the reviews. This is a wonderful, interesting, ethnic neighborhood close to so many of the best attractions. As a New Yorker we felt very comfortable immediately. Yes there are Turkish restaurants on the Rambla Raval but we saw that as […] a plus. As the hotel staff confirmed the neighborhood is very safe and the real estate coveted and expensive. The hotel itself is also wonderful ultra hip and chic. The design is like Phillippe Stark the French designer who designed one of the Morgan Hotels in NYC. The rooms are normal size for Europe and the beds are very comfortable. The lighting is mauve/magenta and somehow relaxing. The shower is in the room sort of but the glass has a privacy screen so it is ok. Go for the upgrade for a higher floor if offered. The views are spectacular! The FREE WIFI was a real plus and worked for both laptops. The public spaces are both comfortable and interesting. Another plus, they offered real cocktails in the lounge. I had a very good Vodka Martini. The staff was very, very wonderful, helpful and gracious and spoke English. If you like modern hotels similar to W and Morgans hotels and an interesting urban ethnic neighborhood you'll love the Barcelo Rival! További részletek

Nice place in down town Barcelona, the neighborhood was little rough of the people, but I didn’t have any problems walking in the night. Definitely I’ll be back soon! MV

This hotel represents one of the best bargains in the city, with a stunning rooftop lounge and views from almost every room. I stayed twice in a period of 10 days and was very impressed on both occasions. Very helpful staff, most of whom speak English. Stayed here for part of my honeymoon. The room was good and the amenities are great. As for feeling safe once you walk out the doors, well definitely shady. One street has hookers (if you head out the main door and take a left down the street to head to Las Ramblas) lined up even during the day, and saw a guy snort a line of coke down the street. Besides […] that, the hotel is close to everything but I would probably stay elsewhere next time I visit (Paseo de Gracia area). We felt comfortable because I can speak Spanish and am very aware of our surroundings so I spotted pick pockets and avoided them. Also make sure to request a room above the fifth floor so you can actually have a view. Staff and security/doormen were friendly. Avoid the Ramblas, its sooo overated. The neighborhood is a little dicey and it takes awhile to feel like ur in a safe area. The staff, the room, the service here is awesome! would consider staying there again.

My wife and i enjoyed our stay at "Barcelo" alot this hotel is amazing , it was so wierd , full of lots of colours , so clean, the staff were very nice and very helpful , breakfast was excellent , the hotel location was very good cause you walk around 5 min only and you reach " La Rambla " , we loved this hotel alot . Close to the market, the Las Ramblas and the metro. We found the location very convenient. The roof top bar had a great view of the city. The roof top bar was a nice place for a night cap...although it was a bit pricey 12 Euro for 1 drink.

Our room had a very modern, styllish and attractive. design. We loved it. We enjoyed the panoramic view at the hotel-top. Good location. It is in walking distance to the Ramblas and to the Gothic quarter. Near the market and close to the Metro..

Great spot, close to Las Ramblas! Service was great. Hotel is modern and cool. Room was great. You pay for what you get. Bathroom wasn't incredibly private which can be awkward depending on who you share the room with but a great view and a great experience.

Rooms were dark with neon pink lighting which made me nauseous. 11th floor terrace had great views of the city but I had to step around vomit twice to take pictures. It's a party hotel with Austin Powers deco. It was relatively close to the main tourist street La Rambla and the front desk people spoke english which was nice. At first the hotel looks a bit out of tune with its surroundings, but it's not: the new, modern, aesthetic hotel tower blends in perfectly with the old Raval neighborhood. And it's rather comfortable with the top floor bar (great views!), the small gym and sauna in the basement, the restaurant and of course: the rooms. New modern design hotel with excellent staff but be sure to have an travel insurance when you enter the street as it is located centrally but in one of the worst areas of Barcelona center. Take a taxi from the hotel, dont walk the street surrounding the hotel night time.

We loved our stay here - it reflected the innovative architecture and mood of Barcelona. The rooftop 360 bar was superb. Close to The Rambla and all the sights. The room had no bright overhead lighting - unless you are able to get ready in a room highlighted only by dim neon lights, this place is not right for you. The curtains open only to see bars in the window, regardless of the room status. The safe battery was dying and the room staff easily came up to fix it by opening it with a key...safe? The toilet […] seat fell off the first time we used. The location is not central to most bars and restaurants. The only thing its central to is Rambles, if that's what you fancy. I do not recommend.
