George Hotel - London

Hotel is older but well taken care of. Lots of stairs up to top floors make it a challenge with luggage. Well worth the price.

very friendly helpful staff was very pleased with the service we received the hotel was very clean. found it very convenient to get to all the locations we visited we will definitely stay their again

Typical small room for London in the sub-budget market; but excellent value for the fifty four pounds rate. Good breakfast with proper sausages, rather than the normal factory reclaimed meat. Pleasant helpful staff. Recommended for an economical and convenient stay in Central London.

A great way to stay overnight in London at an affordable rate. If you are not concerned that the decor etc.. is dated but just want a clean room for the night then this is for you. I was very pleasently surprised at the helpful staff and the breakfast was excellent too. 'Value for money' is how I would summarise.

Too many narrow steps and doors to get to rooms. Location was good for my needs, The breakfast was adequate. Not noisy at night.

The George is a Hotel in a really central location, however, it's cheap enough off season so that its nightly prices are comparable to long-term flat rent rates in the area divided to days. Apart from not having your own bathroom (of which every 2-3 rooms have to use a common one), you get all the comfort you could expect from a 3-star hotel: comfortable […] bed, well-done cleaning, good breakfast choice, and even a reasonably good internet connection. Most of its faults (like, english-style watertaps) are unfortunately common to every English house, and they made surprisingly well-done efforts to provide good locks, good heating, real hot water and insulation - unbelievable to the continental mind, these are luxuries to Londoners, of which the George provides all of them. All-in-all, if you can accept the fact, that you don't have your own bathroom, and you have to walk on the (plush-covered) corridor to get there, you get a good hotel with good service in a fantastic location, which offers a comfort not matched even by most of the homes in the area. Very happy with this hotel. Stayed there for a night at the opera. The hotel was very convenient for Covent Garden and we had a night key so no problems about getting in late. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Had a basement room with on-suite. It was not overly large but big enough. Only negatrive points (and these were not a problem) were […] that there was an outside security light pointing straight at our room and we could hear the low rumble of the underground. The first could be solved with having curtains that completely cover the window. Nothing can be done about the underground but it didn't keep us awake - in fact the low rumble was rather soothing. The only down side to the room was the size of the bathroom. Everything else clean tidy and reasonably priced.

We stayed 3 interminable nights at this place. The shared bathroom made for an increase in hallway traffic and with the 2in gap at the bottom of the door, was very noisy. Although we had our own bathroom, it was one that fit in a closet. Any tall person wouldn't fit. The bed was lumpy, wallpaper was pealing, the ceiling light was glaring. Not a very […] restful place to be, we were depressed every time we came back. Bonuses: Breakfast included - but 7:30-9. Wifi is too but terrible connection in the evening. I selected this hotel due to it was cheap and central. The selection of en suite toilet was to secure my own area. The room as such was no problem, but the location. It was in the cellar, with transport route just outside the door. The door as such was leaking both sound as light and the door should not be seen as a fire protection if fire started on […] either side of the door. Just outside the room was a staircase. This meant stuffing all your worthful belonings into the safe when away. Finally, the matress... I layed down and found that the matress was leaning and found out that the springs in it was broken and half the matress was really bad. I had to sleep in the middle to not fall off. Breafast in the morning was OK. I am a very experienced traveller with several hundreds of nights on hotels. I selected this hotel to get a cheap stay. Simply a great hotel to stay... Big comfortable rooms, amazing beds (it was a challenge to get up in the morning!), great breakfast, free internet, fantastic location and very helpful staff... very friendly staff, the rooms need some painting but it is in the budget category, the bedding is very white and clean, staff extremely helpful and the breakfast is really nice and varied, only 4 mins walk to Euston but very quiet

I was very pleased with the small and cozy hotel and it's location and how easy it was to get to the aiport from there. I will defintely be using it again many times.

Forventningerne var ikke høje, men George overraskede positivt. Super morgenmad, fri internet, nemt at komme til med metroen fra Heathrow og et dejligt roligt område med en masse billige restauranter og pubber. Alt var rent, men gulvet på værelset var så skævt at garderobeskabet var ved at vælte. Ok, fungerte fint. Ikke fornøyd med å gå glipp av frokost ved avreise 0730. Burde kunne fått med noe enkelt. Ellers greit og fint hotell.

nous étions au troisième ce qui fait beaucoup de marches a gravir . Le matin pas beaucoup de pression a a la douche si vous vous lavez en même temps que tout le monde. Mais a part cela hôtel sympa pour quelques jours et le personnel très gentil

Wir verbrachten 3 Nächte in einem Doppelzimmer mit Badezimmer (Zimmer 108). Zimmer/Hotel Betten sehr bequem, Raumgröße sehr passabel :-) Dank auf Hochtouren laufender Heizung und dickem Vorhang war uns Nachts nicht kalt, da die Fenster nicht abgedichtet waren! Das Badezimmer entpuppte sich leider als eine Art Nasszellencontainer mit Wohnwagen-Charme: […] kaum Platz, sehr niedrig, aber zumindest zweckmäßig. Der Geruch am Gang erinnert leider sehr stark an Schimmel :-/ Hotelfotos Die Zimmer wurden vor kurzem renoviert, die derzeit verwendeten Fotos auf Hotel.com sind aus der Zeit davor. Zimmer sind jetzt wesentlich ansprechender :-) Frühstück War ok. Man kann sich sein English Breakfast selbst zusammenstellen, dazu gibt's Cornflakes + Säfte nach Wunsch. Konsistenz/Geschmack der Eierspeise war allerdings ungewöhnlich. Personal Freundlich. Lage Super! Restaurants, Supermarkt, Bus- (inkl. Hotel in una posizione molto centrale. Non è vicinissimo ad una stazione di metro, ma in una decina di minuti ci si arriva. I punti negativi sono: bagno in comune nel piano (non ci eravamo accorti che ci fosse scritto al momento della prenotazione), moquette su parquet (classico inglese, ma per me è una cosa sempre negativa). Da jeg tidligere har boet på "billige hoteller" i London var mine forventninger på forhånd meget lave. Men jeg må sige George Hotel var meget bedre end jeg forventede - stort værelse, gode senge, pænt badeværelse (på gangen), mulighed for at bestille hvad du har lyst til til morgenmad (æg - 3 slags, bacon, pølser, tomater, bønner) ud over hvad der stod […] på bordet i forvejen. Helt klart et sted jeg vil overveje at vende tilbage til i fremtiden. Det eneste minus var at åbningstiderne for receptionen ikke har døgnåbent, vi var der 5 minutter før de lukkede (vi var ikke blevet oplyst åbningstiderne) - 5 minutter senere og vi havde ikke haft mulighed for at få vores nøgler. Georg Hotel er et lille hyggeligt hotel, men værelserne er ikke meget værd, da de er meget små. Endvidere var mit værelse så varmt, at jeg vågnede med hovedpine. Jeg tror dog generelt at englænderne har meget varme på om vinteren. Servicen var god, og personalet er flinke, men går du op i komfort på et hotel, så er dette ikke hotellet for dig. Beliggenhet bra fordi toget til Nottingham går fra St Pancrast likeså toget til Paris. Hyggelig personal - frukosten meget bra. Det mest besværlige var de smalere og smalere trappene til siste etg .Ikke lett for en gammel dame med tung koffert.
