Acorn Guest House - Cambridge

Hotel is comfortable for a short stay - 10-15 minute walk along the River and Jesus Green to get to the city centre. First room (4) was very dark with only 1 tiny window and dark drapes/ furnishings but we moved to another room (10) - same side but much better. Car park tiny - only space for 5 cars at best - in reality only 4, and one of these was occupied […] for the whole of our 4 day stay by the owner's car which did not move for the week. Whilst the staff at the Acorn Guest House were friendly, the breakfast was very good, the room was clean and bathroom was kept in a good condition, the main problem we had was that the room was ridiculously hot during our visit. The radiator was on full, and we were unable to turn it down, even with a window fully open and no sheets on the bed during […] the night we struggled to sleep due to the heat and this was in February. Staff were unhelpful and obstructive. They did not attempt to resolve issues. I would advise against staying here.

Clean rooms but very small bathroom and room. It is quite a walk from town and a long walk from the station. Good breakfast.

The greeting from the guest house owner was very welcoming. He gave us a map and spent 10 minutes explaining how to get to various parts of the city. Good location - was able to walk into the city centre in 15 minutes. The breakfast was substantial and good quality although I wouldve appreciated unlimited fruit juice rather than one glass. The negatives […] are: Lack of parking (there is a very small car park to the rear if you can't get parked on the front road). The room was a little dated (wasn't as nice as ANY of the 10 pics on the website). The extractor fan made an awful noise whilst the toilet light was on (room 5!) I travel to Cambridge frequently and for the money this house is well placed. Chesterton is a fun part of town- convenient to the greens, walking distance to just about anywhere with many pubs close by. Ok, most parts of Cambridge can say that, but as a woman alone I wouldn't necessarily walk through all of them. Here I feel just fine tripping up to […] the co-op at 11pm to grab some last minute supplies. Some people have commented that the room was run down. The carpet shows its age but the room itself was quite well cared for, the bed comfy, the en suite bathroom clean and I felt ok using the towels and sheets. I've paid more for places where I couldn't say all of those things. Couldn't comment on breakfast as I didn't try it. The proprietor was polite and welcoming, pleasant enough during our interactions. The owner could not have been more helpful when I arrived. He gave me a map and marked where I should go in the city and how I should get there. Full marks for that. But,a s I had to leave the following morning before breakfast, there was no offer to knock off £5 from the price, and I suggested perhaps being able to get a bowl of cereal before departing, […] but as it would be before seven, this was not possible. The room (in a back building) was a bit eccentric, and bearing in mind it was not a warm day, the room was very hot. I would not like to be in there during a summer heatwave. The door to the en suite shower roon opened 'the wrong way' and the light switch was concealed almost out of reach because of this arrangement. Being (not that) tall, I also found it impossible to use the loo standing up, thanks to the sloping roof. Nasty shock next morning. One of the 'fake milk' buckets I used to make my cup of tea had turned to cheese, so goodness knows how old it was. További részletek

Piccolo hotel situato in un quartiere residenziale a circa 10 minuti a piedi dal centro di Cambridge, vicino ad un piccolo supermercato fornito. la stanza era abbastanza spaziosa ma il bagno (con doccia) era decisamente piccolo. La camera è fornita di: bollitore con caffe/the a volontà,TV ldc e telefono in camera. Guardate nei cassetti perchè c'è anche […] l'asciugacapelli. Se devo riportare una pecca: manca il frigo. Il trattamento con prima colazione prevede una scelta tra 3 menu di colazione (inglese, continentale, vegetariana) ma il personale è molto gentile e disponibile a venire incontro a tutte le esigenze.
