River Terrace Resort & Convention Center - Gatlinburg

We stayed on a Monday night, the hotel was nearly deserted with six large empty buildings, yet the desk attendant refused to change our room location, or allow us to pay for a room upgrade. No internet in the rooms, restaurant closed all the time, VERY dated hotel. Much nicer hotels in Pigeon Forge nearby.

This "motel" is very old and hasnt been maintained, toiletries were all Made in China, TV was extremely old 27" analog, I've spoiled my family staying at nice "hotels", I would never stay here again and my kids wouldnt let me book this place again under any circumstances, pay a little more and get a nicer place is my best advice

The location of this hotel to downtown Gatlinburg is great! The view from our room was awesome and I enjoyed having a balcony to seat out on. Nicer patio furniture who have been great and made it more comfortable and the over all room was a bit run down. The beds were fairly comfortable though! The room we were in (as it was the case with the reception area) had this old/musty smell to it. It basically smelled like an basement of an old house even though we were on the second floor. The inside of the room looked very 70ish. The bathroom floor was updated, but the rest was very old (and ugly looking). i wish i would have had more time to stay..was only there for 1 night but this hotel is AMAZING!! i WILL be staying there again

River Terrace is within easy walking distance of the prime attractions along the strip in Gatlinburg. It is adjacent to the aquarium and close to shopping and dining. The rooms are much larger than in more recently built hotels and adjoining rooms are available. The wireless internet service is weak, though.

We stay here every trip to Gatlinburg Staff super friendly. We have never had a request made they didn't make every effort to take care of. King suite is spacious and the view great. Plan on going back in a couple of weeks.

The hotel staff was very friendly, the location was perfect and the room was big, clean and comfortable.

Pictures of the hotel are deceiving. The hotel was outdated and wore out.

Very convenient to all downtown gatlinburg sites. Everything is within walking distance. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at River Terrace. On a spur of the moment trip we booked online on the go. We were very pleased with our choice. The location and views of the downtown strip of Gatlinburg were great and we really enjoyed our private balcony. the location is awesome. the hotel is old and you can tell they have tryed to remodel some things. fancy it is not but i would stay again for the location. it is as clean as it can get for an older hotel.

Room older than picture appears. Had a hair on toilet seat - bathroom fixtures older so don't look as clean but I guess they were. Room large enough. Bed clean and comfortable (could use some new pillows). A little pricy for accomodations.

Perfect location right downtown Gatlinburge. The rooms are comfortable and really big. The hotel could use updating, especially the bathroom, but this is still my favorite place to stay due to the perfect location. I highly recommend the Mountain View rooms.

My husband and I stayed here on a recent weekend trip to Gatlinburg and were very pleased with this hotel. The staff was very friendly and helpful and the room was clean and comfortable. The location was convenient to all shopping, dining, and other attractions. The section of the hotel that we booked was at the top of the hill and it was quite a trek […] so if you are traveling with kids or anyone who might have trouble with that you might want to request a room closer to the bottom. Our bed was hard as a rock, but the room was very big and clean. The Staff at the front desk was rude when we asked where we could get ice and a drink because all the machines near the rooms were not working.

The hotel has some age on it, but the room was clean and large. Our room was at the top of the hill section. Walking up and down the steep hill is tricky. Glad there was no snow or ice. Had to call front office about a slow sink drain, but was fixed promptly. No free breakfast, but compared to most hotel freebie breakfasts you are better off buying […] one at the local pancake houses of which there are plenty. we enjoyed our stay. The front desk was very nice, the room was clean and comfortable although older looking. The bed looked worn but was surprisingly comfortable. And the location was great! You are off the main street so you are not bothered by the noise, yet still within easy walking distance.

This is a nice hotel within walking distance to most attractions/restaurants. The price was reasonable, but does not included any type of complimentary breakfast like most other hotels do. Chose this hotel because of the convenience of being located in the heart of Gatlinburg.

I thought I had a mountain view room but it was parking lot view. I asked for river view but there were none. I thought there were none at all, but maybe none were available or none in my price range, because there were clearly rooms overlooking the river once I got there. That wasn't explained very well. This hotel is very clean and so conveinent to the main part of town. I would highly recommend this to anyone planning to visit Gatlinburg. Great for families, too.

The room was very dated, but clean and spacious. The bathroom was tiny. The view was spectacular. The restaurant was only open for breakfast. I would recommend this hotel for folks who don't have a problem walking. For older people or people who can't walk too well, I would not recommend this hotel. Although it is on River Road which is close to the […] main road, it is on a steep hill and you need your car and park it in one of the parking spaces which cost around $10. Room was very spacious and we had a balcony overlooking the city which was nice. There were two vanities one in and one outside the bath which was nice The only thing which really detracted from the hotel was the stained bathtub and the stained hallway carpet. .

River Terrace was a great place to stay. It was neat and clean. Great location on river road., located one block off the main drag and walking distance to both ends of town. Front desk was not so friendly, but I guess everyone has a not so good day every once in a while. Our stay was great and we will be back. GOTTA LOVE THOSE MOUNTAINS!!!

Very nice, and amazing mountain views. Restaurant was mysteriously opening and closing, though, as was the lounge. Other than that, hotel employees were very nice and rooms were completely adequate.

This hotel is right in the middle of Gatlinburg, which is what we like. It is a little older and hasn't really been maintained that well (stained carpets, broken, scratched counters, etc.), but it was clean and comfortable and the staff was very pleasant. Also, the rates were comparable.

We have stayed at several hotels in Gatlinburg over the years' I can honestly say this was one of the best. This hotel was really comfortable and very close to the downtown shops. The only samll issue was there appeared to be stains in the tub in our room, my wife suggets they can be removed by using a little bleach. I do not know. The location was worth putting up with the dated decor. We had a great view from our balcony and could walk to everything. The restaurant was perfectly adequate and their staff was very helpful.

Very clean, great service. But, room not updated. Tub had porcelain chipped (good size piece missing). Commode had to be flushed twice to work.

The hotel was in a great convienient location in Gatlinburg. The view from our balcony was beautiful. Sitting outdoors at the terrace resteraunt and having coffee in the morning was pleasant. This hotel is a little dated, but very nice. It's very close to everything, very clean, and the staff was very nice. I think I used the word very too much! We enjoyed it so much we tried to extend our stay!

this hotel was very nice, quiet, and in a beautiful area. it is located just away from all of the hustle of the strip, but convenient enough to walk anywhere. it also had a trolly stop right in the front just in case you do not want to walk all over the place.
