Short stay in Amsterdam
The hotel itself is modern and the areas downstairs are spacious and well used.
The first room we were shown to was extremely disappointing. Small, overlooking itself with a tiny uninspiring courtyard but you could not open the windows.
We asked to move and agreed a Euros 30 supplement for a new room with a view and a window that opened. The new room did have a view over the town but the window only opened a crack and had to be held open with a book.
The room was better than the first - although hugely expensive for what it was and not a great room compared to other places we have stayed.
At the moment the hotel is surrounded by building work and there are walking boards all around it to get to and from the hotel.
Major benefit for us was being a short walking distance to Amserdam Central station so arriving on the Eurostar from London was easy.
We had a drink in the restaurant bar the first night which we liked and a drink in the Super Lyan Bar the second night.
Not much sign of our room being well cleaned after our first night with water glasses not cleared away. Reception staff efficient but not overly helpful or friendly.
