I was looking forward to staying here, but due to poor customer service prior to arriving, which perhaps was related to language barriers, but communication was done via email, I think my expectations lowered. I do not speak French, and perhaps some people speak English there but no one seemed to want to ensure we knew who could. I like that it is a small hotel, but because our flight was so delayed we arrived very late, and they left the key for us, and we were never welcomed face to face. I had work to do in the few days we had there and often when arriving there was no one at the desk. I was very surprised that there was NO refrigerator in our room. And unfortunately the AC, which even if it was on all day at the lowest setting of 16 degrees Celsius, it never cooled the room below 24 degrees. It was torture. And because I could not speak French or even did not meet the reception person, we could not find someone to speak to about it, and honestly, after the poor customer service up front I gave up. The view was lovely from our balcony. The food we had was good as well. The waiters who served us did their best to support us in ordering and that was very nice. There were indeed a lot of locals that used the restaurant throughout the week, but it was rare to see any locals who were indigenous to Senegal. This was my first visit to Senegal, and I'm sure the area was more wealthy and inaccessible to locals I anticipated.
A fridge, and better AC is essential. Please consider.
