The Moderne

The location cannot be best. It was surprisingly quiet for how close to Times Square. Our room, 105, was a little claustrophobic with views of an alley but the room was otherwise cute and comfortable

We enjoyed our stay at the Moderne. It was conveniently located to all the events we attended, so just perfect for the overnight stay. We liked the smaller size of the hotel. Some reviews say that the view of a fire escape and a brick wall was not desirable, but the room being tucked in as it was made it cozy and quiet - no street noise at all. Everything was spotless and in good working order. The bed was comfortable, and the modern furnishings were appealing. Bathroom rain head shower was great. We would have liked an in-room coffeemaker, but with a nice coffeeshop/restaurant on the same block we did have options nearby. There was a mini-fridge and a robe, safe, umbrella and iron/board provided in the closet. We think this hotel is a great value in NYC and would be happy to return again in the future.

For starters, at 3am, the phone in my room started ringing. When I picked up, there was no answer. This continued from 3am - 4:30am. I finally went down to the front desk and no one was on duty except for the guy who drives taxis outside. He told me that the person stepped away. I waited for about 45 minutes and no one ever returned. Later on, I went to check out, the machine wasn't working for me to get a receipt. I was told they'd take care of it and I'd get the receipt emailed to me in an hour or two. I flew to LA and when I landed, no email. I called and the person at the front desk tried to send me an email for over an hour and still no receipt. Things like this should not be that difficult.

This boutique hotel was in a great location in Midtown. Clean and spacious room.

The staff were all so friendly and helpful! Great location!
