The property is located in a bit of a corporate wasteland off the tollway, which was fine for me because I was there to self-isolate and write for a while. Across the street is Trinity International University which had a sense of post-apocalyptic abandonment to it. Not sure if the campus was on break or if it’s always this empty. The weed-choked volleyball courts would suggest the latter. Around half of the nearby business buildings were completely empty as well.
Breakfast was better than I’d been led to expect with eggs, sausage, waffles, cereal, fruit and pastries available. You need to travel at least a mile to get to any actual dining or retail, but I’d brought a week’s worth of sandwich stuff for my stay so that was ok.
My only real complaint about the property would be that the lighting in the room was a bit dim, but otherwise I could see returning here for another writing retreat.
