The stay was great. The problem was the double charges that appeared on our and our daughters credit card. We paid advanced in full on May 9th. Our stay was May 16-17. We had 2 rooms and we had to add our card for incidentals, our daughter added her card for her room. A week later we checked our credit card and we were charged in full for our room. We called the hotel and Michael said that "expedia's credit card was declined and so we were charged". We were told to take it up with Hotels.com as it was not their problem. We asked about the other room and were told that the room went through fine, nothing declined. We then called our daughter and found out that was not true and her card was charged in full as well. Right as we were looking to contact Hotels.com, Microtel called us and said there was a mistake and they would take care of it. We then mentioned our daughters card was wrongly charged and he said he would take care of that as well.
This is unacceptable and thank goodness we check our purchases. How many times has this happened to others. I will think twice before booking with Hotels.com again. I don't know how the process works between Hotels.com and the hotels, but this does not sound like it was Hotels.com fault. However, if this is acceptable behavior by its hotels then that is a problem and will affect our future usage of Hotels.com. (and our daughters, and family, and friends).
Our charges have yet to be reversed. I will file dispute with CC soon
