Facilities are nice but whatever they use to clean the rooms has a terrible after smell. The smell in our room was so strong we had to move. They said all the rooms had the same heavy smell so we left the property

Very good
Our stay was very pleasant. It is an older hotel but well kept and really quiet.
Breakfast was plentiful and many choices. Met and talked with several people - many of them attending the gem show. Lived in Tucson for 30 years and always remember this hotel in a nice location.

Good location and breakfast
Stopped in for a couple of days here to visit family. Check in was easy and friendly. Room was clean & had a strong cleaner smell that was almost overpowering. My only real concern was I noticed some dead bugs in bathroom light fixture. The breakfast was good and had great selection for buffet-style. Location was close by many restaurants, coffee shops and shopping. Cost matched my expectations.

The hotel called our room at 1am saying they were trying to track down someone who stole something from the lobby fridge. I never went in the lobby. Anyway, they apologized and said it was some kids. But we lost a nights sleep for no good reason.

Good
Very different hotel lay out than most, but kind of fun. Pool is clean and warm, even in winter which pleased the kids. Bathroom layout a little wierd/crowded with door placement.

Great on the inside
The property is nondescript from the outside, but very charming with Spanish-courtyard touches inside its walls. The only concern was a fickle hot tub, but everything else was fantastic.

The clerk at check-in was very slow to come to the desk and very seemed very uninterested in being pleasant or helpful. When I asked about the payment she said, "It's from a third party." I asked the amount she stated it, but it was not what I had seen in Hotels.com (only about $5 more.) She then said I did not pay in advance--just gave credit card. I agreed. Next she said she needed a credit card again to have in case of any "Extras".
She gave me the room key. I went up the stairs, found the room and the key did not work. I went back down the stairs. After waiting a few minutes, I rang the bell on the counter. Another employee came and said they would call the clerk. It took almost 10 minutes for her to come. She reactivated the electronic key--no apology . Fortunately it worked and thankfully I did not bring my luggage in with me!!

Dated, but worth it
The staff is so kind and very responsive. They actually seem to care about your stay and how youre doing. The room wasnt exactly clean (blonde hairs on furniture and floors and crumbs/dirt in corners), but for the price and location, that's not a deal breaker. The bed is worn in. If I could change anything, it would be a newer/firmer mattress and better pillows. But again, the staff, location, and price all make up for it!

Where do you hide the bodies?
It was a nice, quiet uneventful. Stay alive when you get a couple things done without having to kill anyone else. Extra points.

pros: hotel common areas were super cute. Nice pool/hot tub, cute string lights, little fountains - I felt like we were in Savannah! They tried to do nicer updates but needed to do better with cleaning.
Cons: The room was kinda gross! Hair all over, shower filled with water while showering and the tub was chipping, bed was uncomfortable and when my partner moved it would make this awful sound.
