Me and my wife had a planned get away from our kids and booked the Segond Hotel as a great treat to ourselves. It was quite a mixed bag and I will go through the good and bad below.
Good:
Location is brilliant, we had a beautiful nice walk down to Ramla Bay, we were close to everything we wanted to do and see, we had two lovely evenings in the square which was easily in walking distance. The lady at check in and out was very nice and polite.
The Bad:
The room smelled of smoke, despite being a non-smoking room it had an ashtray in the outside area and the door couldn't properly close when outside so clearly people regularly smoke and the room smelled of it, we told the reception and they didn't care. The pool is nice in concept, but lacks sun (so always cold) and not very usable. The service was terrible, first the smoke in the room, then we asked on our second day for a new milk and tea and were told it was at a surcharge as they "only provide for one day" even when staying more(I've never seen or heard of this and I've stayed all over the world in MANY hotels). The breakfast... We asked for a gluten free bread and they gave us moldy bread (very obviously), without appologizing or anything they then took it and as we were about to leave brought out a bunch more without us asking. The eggs were bad, the meat seemed rotten, and the service couldn't speak English or Maltese.
Many beautiful options on Gozo and Malta, avoid here!
