Hotel Ylem, Ascend Hotel Collection

e had a medical appt. in the Med Center and needed to stay overnight. The location was less than a mile away and easy to get to/from the Med. Center. The staff was professional and the room was clean, large and comfortable. Will stay here again.

We enjoyed our stay at Hotel Ylem. We chose this hotel mainly because it had a shuttle to MD Anderson. The shuttle drivers were very conscientious about being on time and were very nice, too. We enjoyed the trendy decorations throughout the hotel and found our room very comfortable. We will probably stay here again for another visit to MDA since it is on the MDA approved hotel list. If you are a patient at MDA, make sure to call the hospital's travel department for patient discounts.

room smelled strongly of mold, asked for different room and that one was better. It just smelled of beer. Breakfast was poor. 1st 3 days no butter, had to wait until they went to store for milk. Food was dry and not hot- we went to grocery store and brought own food. Last day- 4:30 am we brought our bread and peanut butter to make toast. Turned on the light making toast. Security and manager showed up and said we were not allowed until 6:30 when open for breakfast. I explained we were leaving and using our food. They said camera would show we were there and they would get in trouble. Very Poor policy! Most hotels even have snack breakfasts made up to give for early appointments. Location was good and restaurants close. Had shuttle to hospital. Coffee was cold and said not remade after 7pm in lobby. . Not customer friendly. Needs attitude adjustment and better service. I would pay a bit more and stay elsewhere. Very Disappointed.

Building shows its age despite the new, modern fixtures and cute design elements. Had difficulty with connecting my computer to the unsecured wifi network.

What a charming place to stay. I usually stay at Comfort Suites across the road, but this place has a full bar! Would love to stay here again!
