We were told, via email, we would have to check in across the street at the Comfort Inn. After waiting in line for ten minutes, I was told it was the off season and could proceed directly to Best Budget Inn. We had driven four hours from out of state, arrived at 2:15. Check in is officially at 3. When we arrived, we were confused. There were U-haul's parked everywhere, and huge banners plastered everywhere advertising them. Walked into the building, and were immediately hit in the face with the overwhelming reek of marijuana. A man was waiting for someone to show up to rent him a u-haul. Nobody appeared to be available for that OR for check-in. When an employee showed up a few minutes later, he flat out told us check in is at 3, and we'd have to come back then. We went to a store for a few snacks, returned at 10 minutes after 3, and were told our room was not ready, would be about ten more minutes. When my husband complained, the employee said, "I didn't charge your card yet, you can stay somewhere else". Found out our room was upstairs. No elevator. I am somewhat disabled, so the stairs were difficult and painful. Upon reaching the room, we surprised the maid who was scurrying around trying to clean it. She apologized, telling us she is the only maid, and was not told ahead of time someone had reserved this room, so had not cleaned it earlier. Was old and not very clean. Hair in the shower. Bed was ok. No coffee in the room. Bottom line is we would NEVER stay here again!!
