Wanted more water sliding
Fireplace was nice, beautiful views, 1.5 bathrooms. Unfortunately we came there for the water slides, and they were out of commission our only full day there. Kids got 2 hours of playtime on check in day

Overnight stay
Definitely dated. We were in the main lodge and our room was a step back in time! Not something I find negative it was cozy. Full kitchen with dishes and it was clean. Nice bathroom but paper thin walls. Our heat ran all night and we couldn’t get it to cool off even with turning the ac on in the winter

2/10 Poor

How is it even still open?
This place needs new management. The whole place is falling apart and the hospitality is very poor. Lower your standards if you plan to stay at Douglas Fir.

BEST PLace for KIDS ---- This property is due for Reno- but the price offers alot,,, the suites were dated but mountain charming,, the facilaties were dated but offered plenty,,,, they work hard to keep things ice/snow/trash free and clean,,, and there is so much to enjoy,,,, I'd like to see the second pool reopened,, the retail area reopened, and some renovated suites,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, BUT,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, this place is great value,,,,,,,,,,,,,, its just not meeting its potental or earlier greatness,,,,,,,,,,,, This should be a crowded resort,,, its so much fun,,, but as the years have gone by,,its getting dated and behind on renos,,,,,,,, stilll,,,,,,,A GREAT VALUE,, and I will be back,,,, hope to see it thrive!! The water slides, hot tubs, and barely noticed kids fun park are kid paradice,,,,, and unique destination in Banff,,, no one has what they do for kids

4/10 Fair

Last stay at Douglas Fir
Main reason for booking was their indoor waterpark. 15% discount for it being closed due to a pump issue was unacceptable but unfortunately we were notified with too short of notice to switch to another hotel without incurring additional costs.

Girls weekend in Banff
Hotel was clean and affordable but could use some updating. Hot tub was not hot enough. Transit to town was easy, having a kitchen was nice, showers wer great and I would stay again.

A family oriented hotel. We are a family of five and appreciate the space to have a kitchen and living area. This hotel is affordable. A bit outdated, but if that makes it affordable I don't mind. Unfortunately the regular pool is closed since COVID and never reopened (the pool is not really advertised so that is fair), and during this stay the maintenance of the waterpark got extended which resulted in being closed as well. It was a disappointment for our kids, but we received a discount as compensation. We still enjoyed the outdoor hot tub and indoor play zone.

This is a budget property for families that is in need of refurbishment. Although clean, the decor was worn, windows didn't open or close properly and the celings as walls were stained from years of use. The waterpark and indoor hot tub were closed unexpectedly during our stay and the outdoor hot tub was lukewarm at best. We were also charged an extra person fee for our 17 year old even though the unit slept 6 and there were only three of us. Felt like we were being nickel and dimed, with no compensation for the unavailable amenities. After booking regularly at this property for over 25 years, we will be booking elsewhere in the future.

By far the best hotel we ever stayed in .. We went for the mountains but loved coming home (back to the hotel) I wish we could have seen the mountains more from our room but it’s the room we chose I think . Absolutely love the outdoor hot tub and the view of the mountain .. my fiance enjoyed the water slides haha so that was a plus ! Going on vacation and trying to save money and not eat out this was def a must to have a kitchen and we loved it ! We brought our own pans and plates and etc but when we opened the cabinets they provide you with everything you need ! It was a beautiful getaway room :) the parking garage was a nice touch (I think it was heated to which was nice cause it kept our car out of the cold weather ) we love visiting banff and 100 percent will be back to this hotel as we fell in love with our new favorite place

Very good for the budget conscious. Staff extremely responsive. Security could be better - there were no incidents, but there is no lock on outside doors to the buildings. Anyone could come in from the outside to the corridors. These units are a bit worn and dated (carpets, furniture etc.) but overall very good value for the price for those who are there to enjoy the outdoors. The working fireplace and stacked wood a nice touch.

The person checking us in was not very friendly… almost eye rolling a couple of times when I didn’t understand what she was saying. Very upsetting.

We had the room with a pullout couch, which had springs poking out from everywhere. The hotel itself was very dated , our room had staining on the walls, missing cabinet doors and was overall really run down. I would not pay the premium that seems to be the going rate and would look elsewhere next time I stay in Banff .
