Lackluster service
With the limited time that I stayed at Kissel I only needed to interact with the lobby employees and valet a few times. I will say this, the hotel is aesthetically pleasing and a hit for those that want a place so close to the heart of Oakland but the service was only subpar. During check in, I can see the difference in service because I was next to an older gentlemen that was possibly staying a few nights. The employee went through everything, the "rooftop bar" and their hours, the breakfast in the lobby (Otto's), and other amenities that the hotel had to offer. The lady that checked me in rarely spoke to me. In fact, when she handed me the door cards she didn't even tell me what room I was in or even told me anything about their wifi. When I inquired about the room number she said that it was written on the sleeve of the cards. Never did she tell me where the elevators were, nor did she say what time check out was, and I was a bit in disbelief with how little effort she put into her service.
The room was clean, I'll give you that. The bathroom was large and spacious. I sure did love the shower. But I still couldn't shake the lack of courtesy from the front staff.
The valet was great. The guys were very friendly and we were able to get our vehicle within a timely matter during check out.
Would I stay again? Maybe if I shelled out $800/night I'll get better service. However, even if I did spent $300/night I should receive just the same hospitality during che
