False Advertising - Not an All Inclusive
The “All-Inclusive” statement is a pure lie. While I should have done more research before I booked this place, the idea behind All Inclusive is that once I check in, I don’t need to pay for anything (specialty restaurants being the exception). That’s not the case here. Sure food and beverage is included but they charge you $3 a day per device for internet usage. Free wifi is standard practice in most hotels now. Even airlines give free wifi (JetBlue), the fact that an all inclusive is charging for it is absurd. While I didn’t use or ask about the in room safe, on their welcome packet it is mentioned that the use of the safe is also $3/day. This is unheard of at any hotel, let alone a so called “All Inclusive”.
I will take blame for not properly reading the description and noticing that it simply said Internet available, not free wifi. This was also one of the cheaper “all inclusive” but it’s clearly a bait and switch. Most hotels generally have free wifi so why would anyone assume an “all inclusive” doesn’t.
The only good point is the staff at the hotel were pleasant and helpful. But as someone who travels over 150k miles a year and stays in many hotels worldwide, I’ve never encountered something like this. This is the 4th All Inclusive I have stayed at in Puerto Plata and by far the least satisfactory experience I’ve had.
