I recently stayed at Charlie Brooklyn Apartments for four nights, and overall, it was a mixed experience. A few positives are that the building is secure, and the shower pressure was great.
However, there were quite a few more downsides. The check-in process was inconvenient – I had to upload documents online before arrival, and there’s no receptionist in the building. To enter, you have to ring the building’s intercom and speak to a porter in Portuguese, which could be challenging if you’re not familiar with the language. The room itself was basic and lacked window insulation, so road noise was constant all day (there’s a dual carriageway outside); earplugs are essential if you’re a light sleeper. Though mostly clean, there were stains on the bedding and towels, which needed replacing, and there wasn’t any body wash provided. Assistance is only available through WhatsApp, which, although 24/7, was a bit inconvenient since staff aren’t on-site. Lastly, despite requesting a hairdryer daily, I never received one.
If you’re okay with a minimal setup and can manage the noise, it’s a secure place with polite staff, but there’s definite room for improvement in amenities and the check-in experience.
