We've spent one night at ibis Budget of our 4-night stay in Bruges, due to extreme hotel prices during the weekend. Fortunately ibis Budget keeps its prices low and hence is a great choice to saves some extra money.
The building itself is newly built, looks and feels modern and minimal. Staff at the reception were nice, welcoming and helpful. Our room was on the second floor, with a romantic view to the railway station through a narrow window. Again, not a problem as we had low expectations and knew the railway station is nearby.
The room follow the minimal, budget style of the hotel, it is very (VERY) small, compactly furnitured, but clean and tidy - if you've been and stayed in Japan, you can get the general idea.
There is no bathroom, but a shower with tempered glass next to the double bed. Next to it is a small sink with a mirror to get you ship shape for the day. The toilet is a couple meters away from it all and while it does have its separate compartment its door doesn't completely shut towards the ceiling - a weird way for venting the air. Furthermore there is no toilet brush - what the...?
The room does have a thermostat but it did not appear to affect the temperature whatsoever, so it was quite hot, despite the outside temp was around 10 C.
The buffet breakfast was all good, a fine range of food was offered and some specialties like donuts - a nice addition. The buffet area is somewhat small and there were a LOT of people in the morning - needs good timing.
