We really, really loved this place. After getting the coach from Mochit in Bangkok, I was expecting to get dropped at Pak Chong coach station and jump in a taxi from there to the accommodation. However the coach dumped us at the side of the road near Tesco, where there were no taxis in sight... I phoned Eco Valley Lodge in a bit of a panic as I had no idea where I was other than "near Tesco", James the manager came and picked us up despite being on his way out for dinner, he got us checked in and sorted, and then made a point of coming and having a beer with us once we were settled in and he was back from his dinner date. It's a lovely informal place, very clean and heaps of fresh towels etc. The beds are really comfy, the pool a nice temperature and the food is really fabulous. We ate Thai all the time, and everything was fresh, hot, and cooked to order. The staff (both Thai and Western) are lovely, and there is a real feeling of peace and calm. The philosophy is "if you need something, just ask" which is great. We sat up playing music with James and also booked a mini-tour with him to go for an elephant ride and see a bat cave. The resort is a little off the beaten path, down a country road, but don't let that put you off, and they rent moutain bikes. They are also willing to help you book tours with Green Leaf etc for Khao Yai, and also offer their own bespoke options for a little more money.
