Lovely location, service could be better
Been a regular here for NYE for 7 years . Things have changed since Covid as have many hotels. I reserved our room in May ( over the phone ) and requested a downstairs room for our old dog (16 stairs is too much for him) thought it was a done deal as it was 7 months in advance and there were plenty of rooms . Called in October to verify everything and was told there were no downstairs dog friendly rooms . I reminded them I booked in May and couldn’t do an upstairs room with a 62lb dog . Was told “ if you want a downstairs dog room you’ll have to book different dates”. Which I felt was very inconsiderate considering I was proactive throughout the process as a regular . I asked if they could bump someone else as it was still 2 months out and was told no. Not sure why. I said that wasn’t fair as someone who has done nothing wrong , finally the manager gave me a non dog room as an exception ( which was nice I guess but still no real explanation as to why my original reservation request couldn’t be honored ). I insisted they wave the pet fee as an accommodation, which after 3 follows up they did ($50).
Pros : The room itself is cozy , the large tubs are amazing . The view is unbeatable , the restaurant staff are lovely and food is great.
Cons: Carrying my dog up and down stairs multiple times a day was difficult abd detracted from the enjoyment. Walls are thin and you can hear all the kids tromping up and down stairs and housekeepers cleaning. Heat makes the room air very dry
