Concerning Housekeeping Oversight Despite Friendly
My husband and I stayed at Hotel Gaythering for one night on March 22, 2025. While the staff was friendly and accommodating, we were extremely disappointed by a serious housekeeping oversight. After a long early morning flight from Boston, we were exhausted and didn’t check under the covers until we were getting ready for bed around 10:30 PM—only to find dried bloodstains on both the bed sheets and duvet.
We immediately notified the night manager, who was understanding but informed us that housekeeping was gone for the day, so he couldn’t replace the bedding. Instead, he personally brought us fresh sheets and gloves so we could change them ourselves. As an apology, we were each given two free drink coupons for the Gaythering Bar downstairs.
While we appreciate the staff’s responsiveness and effort to make up for the situation, this is a serious health and safety concern that should never happen in a hotel. Proper quality control in housekeeping is essential, and we hope management takes steps to prevent this from happening to future guests.
