A nice hostel, a bit expensive and the volunteers could be nicer. But I would be back because of the beautiful views and property

En lineas generales la pasamos super bien con la excepción de contar con la visita de una rata grande al cuarto por 2 noches seguidas, y lo único que atinó el equipo del hotel fue colocar un carton en el hueco por donde estaba entrando :/ Luego de dos noche y a insistencia de nosotros nos cambiaron de cuarto. Dejó mucho que desear para ser un hostel de la marca Selina.

Excelente lugar para viajeros solos, buena ubicación, lo único es que si hay muchos moscos, y la limpieza de los baños es muy mala. pero fuera de eso las instalaciones muy bien, y muy padre el lugar!

Atmosphere is amazing, staff are great, awesome hang out areas for any kind of mood your in. Plenty of activities to sign up for if you want to. Share bathrooms are ok but I would prefer they were cleaned more often.

The place was overall charming. It had everything; a community kitchen, two swimming pools, an amazing terrace with a great view, the location was perfect, I would stay back without a question.

stayed in Selina for 2-3+ weeks in both private rooms and hostel rooms. 1. I got Dengue which is a disease transmitted through mosquitos and 9+ of my friends who were also staying at Selina got this disease as well and had to be hospitalised. Selina lacks coordination, organisation and they did not act upon this issue through fumigation. The hospital I visited in Puerto Escondido even said to stay away from Selina because they receive high levels of visitation from people who stayed at Selina and have gotten DENGUE (Mosquito Virus). 2. Greed: The Selina Hotel is insanely greedy, when I came to the Cafe / Bar to buy a drink the manager approached me and said that I cannot stay at the bar unless i pay 250 PESOS - and said it was a new rule that took effect yesterday. Whoever runs Selina is insanely greedy and they're sole intention seems to be to drain your wallet. I wasn't going to write a review after I got Dengue along with countless other people at the hotel - but as soon as the manager approached me and said what he said to me about paying 250 PESOS just to be there I had to write this review. All in all, if you decide to stay here be prepared to deal with a GREEDY system and a disease/virus ridden environment.

So I’ve stayed in a LOT of hostels in different parts of the world. This one being so cheap, I was *sure* it would be terrible, so I just booked a couple nights to get myself to the area, assuming I would find something better locally. From the second I arrived, I didn’t want to leave. I stayed in the 8-bed dorm and it’s better than most places I’ve stayed, clean sheets, a double power point for each bed, separate shower and toilet for ease of use, and the pool right outside the door. The decor is island chic and you step out the front of the hospital literally across the road from the beach. I’m afraid to talk it up too much because then it will get too popular, but this is seriously a perfect hostel. I have extended my stay and probably will again, if work keeps letting me work remotely (from the coworking space and decent - not amazing but decent which is good for the area - WiFi that I can even reach FROM the beach itself!
