Beautiful and convenient. Perfect first visit!
We had a wonderful time at Casa da Luz. Ilda, our hostess, was very welcoming and accommodating to our family. She notified us as soon as it was possible to check in, and was easy to reach anytime we needed anything.
The house is in a very convenient location, right on the beach (though there is no direct access from the rear of the house down to the beach). The outdoor space was so relaxing and offered a good amount of privacy. There's a public parking lot next door which was convenient, free, and much better than the street parking you may be limited to at other locations. It could sometimes be a challenge finding an open parking space when coming back in the evening, but was certainly not a big deal. The location is very close and convenient to Ponta Delgada, to Lagoa, and to the highways that lead toward other parts of the island.
We were provided with a very generous gift basket of local foods and wine upon our arrival. This was a very nice and unexpected touch, and helped us feel right at home on our first visit to Sao Miguel. We prepared most of our own meals during the week, and the kitchen, while not huge, was well-equipped and had all we needed once we brought the groceries home. The free WiFi worked quite well for our family of five, and there were plenty of towels for all of us. The house is in very good condition. It's well maintained and immaculately clean. By the end of our stay, we felt even more at home and comfortable coming back to Casa da Luz each night.
