There was no staff at hotel

Place was clean, convenient and spacious. Location not too far from Ikebukuro station. Had good amenities.

Brilliant is a new building in Ikebukuro next to a noisy road and a disused park.The building is a long walk from the train station and is surrounded by love hotels and girly bars.Our room was clean except for the area under the beds where we stored out suitcases-they were covered with dust and hair (not ours) when we retrieved them.The room was tiny, far too small for a family. We were assured it would be suitable and told it had an upstairs and downstairs but this was not true.Upon seeing the room we immediately asked for a refund or partial refund and were refused.The only beds were bunk beds.The “sofa bed” was definitely not suitable for sleeping and very small.We were promised a place to leave our luggage on departure but there was no one available when we contacted reception.This is not a hotel, there is actually no reception. It is self check in. Despite requesting all check in details before departure the check in process was changed on our day of arrival-this caused much stress as it could not be accessed as our phones had gone flat. The building is narrow with a steep stairwell which smells.The room had a washing machine but no dryer.The bathroom and toilet were fine by Japanese standards but the kitchen living sleeping area(one room)was tiny.The bunk beds are low, uncomfortable and squeak every time someone moves.Not suitable for families.Might be ok as a hostel alternative or for budget travelers.Not recommended.Poor customer service once they have your money

Cozy area, not so noisy, about 10mins walk to the nearest train station. Surrounded by huge department store namely Tobu and Seibu. Good experience. But the place is too small for 2 people though.
