Located in the centre of the city and spanning 13 hectares, Souk el Had is one of the biggest souks in Morocco and a major tourist attraction in Agadir. This lively souk is home to thousands of shops selling a wide range of products – from traditional Moroccan tagine pots, spices and argan oil to clothing, jewellery and leather goods.
Souk el Had also features numerous places to try local foods and drinks, such as a traditional Moroccan mint tea. It’s surprisingly easy to find your way around the sprawling souk thanks to the numbered entrances – but if you want to go with a local guide, there are organised tours that can help you make the most of your visit.

Agadir Medina

The original medina was destroyed by a fire in the 1960s and was rebuilt in the late 2000s by Italian architect Coco Polizzi. Another market popular with locals in Agadir, Souk Lakhmiss is found outside the city and is well-visited by residents from the surrounding neighbourhoods of Hay Zaytoune and Assak. The souk mainly sells locally produced food and is a great value place to stock up if you’re self-catering on your trip to Agadir.
As well as traditional Moroccan food, Souk Lakhmiss also sells clothing, toiletries and household items – often at much better prices than you’d find at the bigger souks in the city. If you’re visiting the souk, it’s open for late-night shopping on a Thursday.
