Check-In:
No issues
The Hotel:
An older building, but looked clean & well-maintained. My major complaint was that the entire property smelled of cigarette smoke—the lobby, elevator, halls, even the room, smelled like someone just finished smoking.
The Parking:
I opted for the self-parking with in-and-out privileges. The contracted parking garage is directly across from the hotel (900 North Michigan Shops Parking Garage) and is shared with the shopping center & the Four Seasons Hotel Chicago. Despite this, parking was never a challenge and I always found a spot.
The Room:
As mentioned above, the room did have a smell of cigarette smoke, but it was not overpowering. The windows are single-pane. As mentioned earlier, it was in the teens during my stay & they emanated cold into my room at a rate where the heat could barely keep up. There is a heater in the bathroom, so I was able to keep the bathroom warm during my shower, which was a good thing because the shower only gets to slightly above lukewarm. Though I take lukewarm showers and this wasn’t an issue for me, it would be an issue for people who love hot showers. A lot of the fixtures in the bathroom were a bit worn and outdated, but they still worked.
My Overall Impression:
I would stay again. The area around the hotel felt fairly safe, I did see police officers visibly patrolling the area. I would recommend this hotel to a tourist who wants to be close to everything, but don’t want to spend a lot of money.
