We almost could have tolerated the old, outdated, shabby, moldy, screen less windows but the staff running around and causing a chaotic presumably drunken ruckus starting at 11 pm and lasting couple hours did it for us. Ironically, the house rules we were given specifically stated âquiet hoursâ from 11 pm to 7 am. Needless to say we really didnât sleep. It all started a little shaky when the room wasnât ready on time for 3 pm check in. We foolishly thought that since they asked for our ferry arrival time (10 am and we certainly didnât think we were checking in that soon) that the room would be ready when they said. We understood that our nightly charge of $466 (taxes included) was a little below market given the weekend but we were really surprised by how awful and dirty the room and bathroom turned out to be. I mean jaw dropping. Not sure how or why there positive reviews of this place. We are Block Island regulars that normally stay at another inn but wanted to try this place given its proximity to the main drag and surpriseâŠ..availability. Maybe the second floor is magically beautiful but weâll never know.
Great location at Old Harbor. We loved sitting on the back balcony overlooking the harbor and the front balcony overlooking Spring Street. No frills, but charming, comfy room and very convenient.
MISERABLE. This is the very worst place I have ever stayed. You dont find out about how horrible the place is until it is too late. No cancellation, no refund and very expensive.
The Hotels.com website doesn't tell you about this ancient atrocity. Check in is at the sandal shop downstairs. It was ok, fast and Jose did not verify my identity other than my giving my name. Never saw the staff again except when they were banging the door to their office on the third floor. Rumor is that the Inn is haunted, and maybe so, we were awake all night and all day with the doors constantly banging.
2) It is not until after you commit to the non-refundable place that you get the email stating you have a "private" bath and that it is way down the hall. Hard on old people who have to get up in the night.
3) The linens are awful. There is no top sheet just an old worn-out raggy blanket. The pillow are horrible. And this is a luxury place?
4) The hotel is ancient and has not be modernized. At least the old door frames were nice. The floor in our room (#5) was painted white floor board that looked like it had not been washed in years.
5) There is no housekeeping. This is allegedly due to covid concerns but smacks of the owners just being cheap.
6) No internet or TV. Come on this is the 21 century.
7) No climate control. The fans in the room worked, at least some of them did. At night it was pleasant but during the day miserable.
I could go on. NO EXCUSES
The location of the IOH couldnât be better, quiet at night but close enough to walk to the fun during the day! The staff was incredible. Jose was accommodating from start to finish, couldnât have had a better trip if i tried! Thank you again, Jose & staff!
