Penny Lane was popularised by the hit Beatles song from 1967 and is one of Liverpool’s most notable streets and quarters. Beatles fans from all over flock to explore the street, which is filled with independently owned businesses and even a barber’s shop in exactly the same spot as described in the hit tune.
The street was where Paul McCartney would change buses to visit John Lennon, and afterwards, the 2 would continue their journey to frequent the clubs they performed at. The pair also had similar experiences from childhood on the street, which inspired them to create the ode to Penny Lane.
