The Wanderer Memory Trail is a unique educational experience on Jekyll Island that chronicles the history of the slave ship, the Wanderer. Follow the trail along the banks of the Jekyll River, where the ship was brought to shore with enslaved Africans over 160 years ago.
During your visit, you'll see personal stories about the people on the ship through a variety of informative panels and fascinating individual exhibits that tell the tale of their arrival on these shores. There’s also a large panel showing the known survivors. Nearby the somewhat leafy trail, you can easily hit the beach of St. Andrews Beach Park.
