We arrived after an early morning flight and we were very pleased when they allowed us to check in four hours early. I’ve stayed at the Barrington every time I’ve travelled to Halifax but was very disappointed with the condition of our room this time. It was clean and the beds are comfortable but it’s very outdated. The hot water smells very earthy, like bog, didn’t even like to shower in it. We resorted to using cold water as much as we could. The heat in our room also didn’t work, just blew cold air. Maintenance did come and look at it on our first night but it still didn’t work. We were out of the room most of the day and didn’t want to deal with changing rooms later in the evening so we tolerated it. We ended up going to bed early every night because it was just too cold to stay up. We also saw a mice in the hallway and in the tempo restaurant. Unfortunately I probably won’t choose this hotel again, which is disappointing because it is so conveniently located downtown.. The staff in the hotel and restaurant are excellent!
