There’s no reception and nobody onsite when you check-in, there’s no information on how to check-in, not even on how to get into the property, nothing. You arrive to the address to find a locked door, messages via the booking platform are not replied, we called the number on the booking and were asked to send a message on WhatsApp. Then the check-in finally happened with someone opening the door remotely. Some prior information on check-in process would be greatly appreciated, so that you’re not left in the middle of the city trying to get through a locked door of the accommodation that you paid for in advance.
The room is very basic, no even bedside tables, no chairs or anywhere else to sit on except for the bed, the bathroom is tiny with a broken towel holder and so nowhere to even put a towel in the bathroom.
The wall behind the rubbish bin was dirty, covered in splashes, the window didn’t close properly leaving a big gap, although this was fixed for our second night when brought up with the staff.
The bed was clean, bed made daily, mattress hard but manageable. No coffee in the room, only tea, so had to use the coffee machine in the hallway, it was tricky to put on, but the 18 yo managed after a while of trying.
Breakfast is very basic, a few packed croissants, coffee, packs of cornflakes and a mini fridge with a couple of juices and milk.
The location is great for Vatican, but not the rest.
3 overall but only because the staff is nice, otherwise would be 2.
